Yes 8 it is. Probably a good number. I completely applaude Simon, Karl 7 and others who finishes all these games. I have a fairly flexible schedule and will not reach 20

In my game vs Simon, we play with tech. The game doesn’t ask me to scramble, then I hit the ab with my rockets and it can’t scramble anymore. What is the correct rule here, can my opponent scramble or not?

Scrambling happens at the end of Combat Movement Phase (page 16, Europe Rulebook) while Rockets occur “During the Strategic and Tactical Bombing Raids step of your Conduct Combat phase” (page 40, Europe Rulebook).
Assuming the airbase wasn’t already damaged to the point of being inoperative at the end of Combat Movement, your opponent should be allowed to scramble.

Will the league use official rules with bid (2nd edition) or this is going to be a BM3 playoff?
Or will it be left to player’s discretion (e.g., both agree to do BM).

That seems odd, everyone has experience with the official 2nd edition but only a subset has BM3 experience.

All players who want to be in the playoffs need to let me know by private message or in the league discussion thread (this thread) and I will sign you up. You will not be in the playoffs if you don’t sign up with me, even if you’re ranked #1. This is because not everyone who is in the top 8 and would qualify for the league playoff wants to play, so you must sign up.You may see who is signed up by looking at the game results spreadsheet - I made a new tab.
You need me to sign you up because I don’t want people to be able to delete someone else or any other funny business - it’s for everyone’s protection, you understand.
League rules state that the only requirement is that you have completed at least 3 games during 2017 in league play. All players with 3 games played may participate in the playoffs
You must sign up by December 30 so that players may begin on January 1.
Last year’s 2nd playoff champion (league championship game is in progress between RUBIOTON and ME1945) was Wittman, who advanced all the way from the PLAY-IN game!!

Just curiosity, is MrRoboto still the most games played champ at 70 in a league season?
Also, Gamerman, you might want to correct the league champion stats. There was a 2012 champion playoff. Mistergreen won, with me 2nd. I think that was the first official year of the G40 playoff.

Well, there were a lot of differences…… Berlin had a minor complex and not a major, and there was no complex in Ukraine (for the Germans to take), so that helped the Allies.

Yes, it was like a rough draft! The most ridiculous things I remember were the scramble rules (couldn’t scramble from London, but could from Tokyo, and scramble was only allowed from islands and not coastal territories. Also, no limit of 3 planes - was unlimited) and the imbalance of fighters in the Pacific theater compared to the European. Japan had like 24 fighters and tacs and Germany had like 7. Something like that. And yes, Berlin only having a minor complex - what in the WORLD. Yeah, you didn’t miss out.

Good point - I added a line to the bottom of the 2012 league results post in the league history thread that makes it clear Mistergreen was the champion of the playoff, with you as the runnerup

2017 playoff brackets are set!!
Higher ranked players can open the bidding, or have the option to defer the opening bid to their opponent.
Most players will want to play the balanced mod. Make sure your opponent agrees before you start bidding. If one player refuses to play balanced mod, you will have to play the standard G40 2nd edition with him, per league rules set 1 year ago.See the matchups on the new 2017 playoff tab of the rankings spreadsheet. You may begin.
The 2nd bracket involves 9 players. I decided to have 1 play-in game because the #9 player is Giallo, who was only .03 PPG behind Amon-Sul and completed 45 games during 2017. Therefore he clearly earned a right to play for the 2nd playoff.
Amon-Sul and Giallo - since you drew a play-in game, everyone in the 2nd playoff bracket will appreciate it if you can play your game at a good pace. Wittman can’t play his first playoff game until yours is done. It would be great if you can manage to complete your game in one month or less, though there is no time limit.There is a 3rd playoff of 4 players this year.

7 - The 2017 Regular Season starts on 1 Jan. 2017 and ends on 31 Dec. 2017, midnight, Hawaii time. Games must be completed by 31 Dec. 2017 in order to be counted for the 2017 season. All game results reported between 1 Jan. 2017 and 31 Dec. 2017 will be included in the 2017 league standings.
