If you could choose any TWO new unit sculpts, what would they be?

  • @Imperious:

Light Carriers or Escort ‘Jeep’ Carriers ( CVL or CVE)

    Fortification or Fortress unit

    x1,000,000

  • @Make_It_Round:

German guy looks like he’s got ADD, can’t even concentrate on where he’s walking.

British / ANZAC dude looks like he’s a hunchback, or constipated.

US fella looks like he cocking a shotgun, not holding a rifle.

Italian paisan looks like he’s too lazy to aim his weapon: maybe it’s too heavy to lift?

    XD

Not a comment for a new sculpt really… but I never really liked that all US fighters are P-38s. I know it is different for some versions, but overall this seems to be the case.

I always felt that the primary unit sculpt for each power should be representative of the most popular or populated class-type. Even though it is cool, and pretty recognizably American, there were more single fuselage fighters built than twin fuselage. In terms of popularity and production I think P-51s, P-47s, P-40s or even F6Fs rank higher than the P-38. Much as I love it, I don’t see it as the representative US fighter of the war.

Same goes for US carriers… Wasp! Seriously? Essex should be the sculpt hands down. If not that, then certainly Yorktown.
Wasp was underpowered, undersized and underarmored compared to all other US fleet carrier classes, plus there was only one ship in the class.

Well, yes, if any one carrier is “representative” it would be Enterprise… but Enterprise was Yorktown class.

Russian artillery was fantastic. They had such an array of guns. Is wrong they do not have their own sculpt.

  • either that or Chinese P-40 and Chinese artillery.

  • I’d have to go with Escort carriers and P51’s

Actually, it might be kind of cool to have some sort of leader sculpt; like a Roosevelt, Churchill, Hitler, Stalin etc…

You could move them with ships or aircraft, but if they are captured your country must save them or surrender. But your leader can be sheltered by an allied power. Or something similar… maybe an idea worth pursuing.

Just got the idea from a couple games we played where we found a Risk soldier in the game and he ended up becoming Churchill and sitting in England the whole game.

Those are the Rocco units and I’m kicking the Hell out of myself for not buying because if you go there now the link is blank. They were a bit smaller than the infantry in A&A but would be awesome.
Just do what I did and paint some heroes. I went with Comic book guys because I am a tremendous geek. Colossus for Russia, Captain America for USA. Etc etc…. Painting all your units might seem daunting at first but let me tell you that you WILL get pretty good with practice. I’m built for power and not finesse as anyone who met me at FMGC12 will attest but believe me if I posted pics of my Japanese guys who I did first and my FMG Italians or ANZACs which I did last you will see the progress. Give it a shot people. If you hate what they look like you can always reprint them in the OOB colors.
Also, check out a local hobby shop. They might have 1/72 units for these leaders and if not on the shelf they might have a catalogue where they can order them. Special units int he sizes we need are herded to find but with research you will succeed. FMG and HBG are awesome though and if you can get what you need there, and you mostly can, do it there.
