    Just watched the first 9 videos, I really enjoy these YG. Scrambling is a whole new dynamic to the game that I love! This really would have sucked to not know on game day, Thanks again.

    Yep, lots of new players forget about those extra 3 @4 coming in to defend an adjacent sea zone.  Also, after a player declares that his combat movement is done and is ready to resolve combat, the defending player may say that he scrambles planes into the battle tilting the odds in his favour, and if the attacker wants a redo… they shouldn’t get it IMO because it takes away from the defenders awareness to recognize the opportunity.

  • thanks the new forum conscripts was helpful

  • YG,

    Been away from the game for a while so I’ve been brushing back up on the rules with your YT videos.  Just wanted to say thank you for taking the time and effort.  Much appreciated  🙂

    @Young:

    @wartorn:

    What is classified as a surface warship? Battleship, Destroyer, and cruisers?

    @barney:

    Carriers also. Only subs and transports aren’t.

    Correct

    That’s a bit of a loophole IMO. They can’t hit the sub on the attack but they can still ignore it.

    Loophole? Why? What else than a surface warship should a carrier be? It is way more than just a ‘transport’, just think of the defense value.

    Even transports can ignore subs, subs can ignore subs, so why should a carrier (together with all the other surface warships) not be able to ignore subs?

    In case you refer to the rule that a transport needs an escorting warship in order to unload from a seazone that contains an (ignored) enemy submarine - this is not related to the ability to ignore or to attack or to hit.

    I was thinking from the point of view of ignoring a sub to do an amphibious assaults. A CV can be used to escort the TT even though it can’t hit it. If you could scramble a single plane there is zero chance of the amphibious assault proceeding even with a massive air force supporting the attack.

  • French-speaking players:

    I’ve summarized the rules, units abilities and national objectives in a 10-page pdf  file that can be distributed to the players. I’ve done it because I’m gonna host a first play with friends next week. I could translate it back to English if there is some interest in it. Cheers

    I cant post link here so please go to BGG and look for new files under A&A 1940 Europe.

  • I have a question now, if the community could give an advice. We are going to be 4 or 5 at our first A&A 1940 Global play. I’ll know very soon if we are 4 or 5. I want that players don’t wait for too long until they can play and if possible have something to play with on each board (except Axis players). I have thought of this configurations, what do you think?

    If 5 :
    Germany + Italy
    Japan
    vs
    France + UK
    USSR + ANZAC
    China + USA

    If 4 :
    Germany + Italy
    Japan
    vs
    France, UK, USSR
    ANZAC, USA, China

    I agree with your 4 player configuration, but for 5 players… I would have Russia play China and America play ANZAC.

  • Thank you very much Young. I’ll follow your advice. Would you recommend using your home rules (national objectives and R&D) also to complete newbies?
