    • RE: The new forum has been a lot of work and it's not done yet

      @djensen Thank you for all what you are doing for us. 👍

      Myself, I have spent an unusual amount of time on the forum and in front of my PCs before, during and after the migration, in order to identify problems, deal with feedback, provide information, give support, suggesting my ideas as regards content and organization, sorting threads, cleaning-up topics
 just to name some activities. (Thank you to my family for their understanding ♄ )

      Now, I don’t even do this as a business, I do it just for fun. As Dave with this site gives me the chance to ideally combine my hobbies: I love strategic boardgames, I am an IT-interested autodidact, I love to moderate discussions and deal with change management. Doing all of this and the feedback I sometimes get from the community is “salary” enough.

      Instead, I will be happy to donate another 50 USD for my next 2019 Gold patronage in some weeks.

      I don’t expect that everyone takes the same fun out of this site as I do. And I am aware that only a fraction of users even reads the topics in this category including this thread. But in case you read it, and in case you take some fun out of this website and have not donated so far - please consider doing it now!

    • Current TripleA / MARTI / PBF / PBEM / GMail Issues

      Currently this community when using TripleA suffers from some serious problems described and discussed here and - more important - on the triplea-game .org forum.

      https://forums.triplea-game.org/topic/3124/nodebb-1-17-and-later-breaks-pbf-compatibility

      https://forums.triplea-game.org/topic/3061/marti-issues

      https://forums.triplea-game.org/topic/3157/google-mail-with-triplea-issues-was-new-play-by-forum-game

      Everybody feel free to add your concerns to the above mentioned topics. You don’t reach the developer(s) here but over there.

    • RE: Global 2nd edition Q+A ( AAG40.2)

      @ussgordoncaptain

      By the rulebook (Europe 1940 2ed, page 10):
      “Friendly neutrals

 They can be moved into (but
      not through)
      as a noncombat move by land units of a
      power that is at war (see “Noncombat Move,” page 22).
      This moves the territory out of its neutral status at the
      end of the Noncombat Move phase”.

      So the answer is “No”.

      You’d need to move the mech infantry and the regular infantry at the same time.
      The mech infantry can’t “move through”.

      @captain-walker
      If users upvote your posting by klicking the heart symbol

      Screenshot 2018-12-03 at 21.10.08.png
      this adds to your “reputation”.

      Additionally there appears to be a “reward system” that adds for example 200 “points” once your post count exceeds 20,000, regardless of what you have posted (including for example TripleA turn postings).

      So “reputation” is the sum of all upvotes (maybe subjective quality, maybe a simple confirmation of taking notice) and quantity (mass posting reward), which - benevolently - might be interpreted as reward for long time membership.

      Welcome to the forum.

      Please don’t dig out and resurrect 11 years old and outdated topics addressing people that haven’t been online for more than eight years.

      See our Forum Rules please.

      @SGT-Pitbull said in Help Turn order?:

      Im actually feeling pretty stupid here, since I have been in to this game since 2003. Please cut me some slack. 🙂
      Is the turn order as printed in the 2nd edition global rulebook “Italy/anzac” or did it change?

      Neither the turn order nor anything else has changed from the 2nd ed. rulebooks. The rulebooks (and official FAQ) to be found on the AH rules page represent the latest status.

      I hit space for a paragraph break and the msg has already paper airplaned out. : )

      For a paragraph break hit “Shift + Enter”.
      This will start a new line/paragraph instead of immediately send out the text when only hitting “Enter”.

      @Ivelity Welcome to the forum. 🙂

      Just use the “Battleship & cruiser bombardment”-step of the Amphibious Assault-sequence as described in the rulebook, page 15.

      During Combat Move Phase move the loaded transport together with the Battleship into the seazone you plan to unload from. As there is no sea battle you may use the Battleship to bombard the territory.

      @private-panic

      Unfortunately it seems that you have run into the same issue as everybody using the current stable sooner or later does.

      It is covered for example in
      https://www.axisandallies.org/forums/topic/39421/unable-to-post-forum-game

      You need the latest TripleA Pre-Release to avoid this error
      https://github.com/triplea-game/triplea/releases
      and play by forum as you are used to.

      However be aware the Pre-releases might incoproate other issues, so better install them side-to-side with your stable (choose a different installation folder when installing).

      You are welcome. Feel free to continue asking as you need it. It is just that we need to clearly figure out which of the games is addressed. As rules differ significantly the answers differ significantly, too.

      @largowin said in Rockets have a firing range of 3 or 4?:

      @panther That’s why I’m asking, because page 33 of the 2004 guide (revised) then doesn’t say that if you look at the image and the text next to the image.

      Capture d’écran 2023-03-12 Ă  16.37.13.png

      This error has been covered in the official Revised-FAQ/Errata:

      “Pages 33-34, A Sample Turn: Replace all text and diagrams referring to the antiaircraft gun in Russia with an antiaircraft gun in Caucasus.”

      @largowin said in Rockets have a firing range of 3 or 4?:

      @panther @Krieghund
      I took this PDF from the official A&A site and it really says 20th anniversary (https://axisallies.com/rule-books/).

      Just to avoid confusion: The site axisallies.com is far from being official - how do you come to think it is?
      “This site is put together by a quad of Axis & Allies game players
” as is stated on their homepage. However they provide rulebooks.

      @largowin said in Rockets have a firing range of 3 or 4?:

      @krieghund I rewrote it in the correct section.

      No, sorry, you re-posted in the Classic-Section, which addresses the 1984 MB game (see my statement above). I have deleted that posting to avoid further confusion.

      I thought that was the way to do it. I hadn’t noticed that Panther was a moderator. I’m going to delete this topic in a few hours, the time to make sure not to be rude to him, because I replied to one of his messages by putting the image of the map.

      Please don’t delete anything. I have moved the entire topic to the correct category in the meantime.

      Maybe you are interested in the Wikipedia article about Axis&Allies, that will give you a good overview about the different versions and their appearance in history:

      How do you get the Play by Forum thing to work? I’m not sure why it doesn’t work.

      Please take the time and read the stickies and do some research in this forum category as this topic has been excessively covered.

      For example here: https://www.axisandallies.org/forums/topic/39421/unable-to-post-forum-game

      You need the latest TripleA Pre-Release to Play by Forum in a way that needs no workaround.
      https://github.com/triplea-game/triplea/releases

      However be aware the Pre-releases might incoproate other issues, so better install them side-to-side with your stable (choose a different installation folder when installing).

      @superbattleshipyamato

      Please describe your problem as detailled as possible. Then it is a lot easier for those trying to help you. The second sentence that you just edited is a good start.

      Also you should add a screenshot of the error or quote the error message.

      Most of the time there is a “Report to TripleA” button that you should execute and then report here what happens.

      it is impossible for Russia to reach Germany since it is a distance of 4 squares. What’s wrong?

      In any case nothing is wrong. Rockets from Russia simply can’t reach Germany.

      Now please reassure yourself and us which of the two games you address.

      The description matches : Axis & Allies Anniversary Edition
      Released October 2008, re-released October 2017

      This is the 50th Anniversary Edition that this forum-category is about.

      @largowin said in Rockets have a firing range of 3 or 4?:

      And I own the 2008 20th anniversary edition

      There is no such edition.

      In 2008 the 50th Anniversary Edition had been issued (50th Anniversary of Avalon Hills).
      The Revised Edition issued in 2004 celebrated the 20th Anniversary of the Axis&Allies brand, as in 1984 Axis & Allies (Classic) by MB had been issued (There was a 1981 Edition of A&A by Nova Games however).

      In case you own the 2008 50th Anniversary Edition, this forum is correct, but the rulebook - as @Krieghund already mentioned - you linked above as well as the pages you mentioned above are incorrect, as those refer to the older game. You should easily notice that the rulebook shipped with the 50th Anniversary game looks totally different from the one you linked to above.
