    • RE: The new forum has been a lot of work and it's not done yet

      @djensen Thank you for all what you are doing for us. 👍

      Myself, I have spent an unusual amount of time on the forum and in front of my PCs before, during and after the migration, in order to identify problems, deal with feedback, provide information, give support, suggesting my ideas as regards content and organization, sorting threads, cleaning-up topics… just to name some activities. (Thank you to my family for their understanding ♥ )

      Now, I don’t even do this as a business, I do it just for fun. As Dave with this site gives me the chance to ideally combine my hobbies: I love strategic boardgames, I am an IT-interested autodidact, I love to moderate discussions and deal with change management. Doing all of this and the feedback I sometimes get from the community is “salary” enough.

      Instead, I will be happy to donate another 50 USD for my next 2019 Gold patronage in some weeks.

      I don’t expect that everyone takes the same fun out of this site as I do. And I am aware that only a fraction of users even reads the topics in this category including this thread. But in case you read it, and in case you take some fun out of this website and have not donated so far - please consider doing it now!

      If users upvote your posting by klicking the heart symbol

      Screenshot 2018-12-03 at 21.10.08.png
      this adds to your “reputation”.

      Additionally there appears to be a “reward system” that adds for example 200 “points” once your post count exceeds 20,000, regardless of what you have posted (including for example TripleA turn postings).

      So “reputation” is the sum of all upvotes (maybe subjective quality, maybe a simple confirmation of taking notice) and quantity (mass posting reward), which - benevolently - might be interpreted as reward for long time membership.

      @jgbarg Welcome to the forum. 🙂
      I have moved your topic to the Anniversary category.

      As long as the Chinese territory is controlled by China, allied planes may land there.

      I hit space for a paragraph break and the msg has already paper airplaned out. : )

      For a paragraph break hit “Shift + Enter”.
      This will start a new line/paragraph instead of immediately send out the text when only hitting “Enter”.

    • RE: AA50 Rules Errata and Q+A

      @MillCreek said in AA50 Rules Errata and Q+A:

      @Panther Yes, thank you for the rule clarification. But my issue is that it doesn’t seem to make sense. I understand the rule. I just don’t like the rule.

      I did not intend to teach you things you already know. I just thought the best way to explain the difference was by the rules.

      @MillCreek said in AA50 Rules Errata and Q+A:

      In both cases, your team has control of the territory. In one case, that control was gained after the fall of the capital. In the other case, you had control before the fall. It seems a poor rule that your team is punished for owning a territory longer. Sorry, you don’t get those IPCs or use of the factory, unless you let the enemy capture it, then recapture it.

      One can well argue about liking or disliking rules, for sure.
      But here we are not talking about an isolated rule but about a concept behind:

      Every power can only use Industrial Complexes owned by itself and it gains only income from territories controlled by itself. And all of this only if its own capital is not in enemy’s hands.

      It must hurt to lose a capital: So if SU loses Russia while controlling Karelia it cannot use the factory and it does not gain income.
      Why should UK be enabled to use a Russian factory then? Why should UK gain SU’s income then? Simply because of being there? UK does not control anything there at that moment. It is still SU’s control. And “team rewards” are not part of the game. There is no concept of “team control”.

      If UK captures Karelia from Germany while Russia is not in SU’s hands, it can’t liberate that territory for the SU but gains control instead. It is the concept of the game that you can use fabrics and gain income from territories you control. This is a fair reward for the efforts of conquering it back from the enemy - in case this rule was not part of the ruleset, Karela would simply be liberated for a capital-less SU. No one would receive anything for that effort, so why risk anything here?

      Usually when you liberate a territory for an ally controlling his capital himself, you don’t get anything either, you just strengthen your ally - that must be reward enough.

      There is nothing that bothers me, personally, with the rules here. I think the concept is pretty logical and straightforward. But as I said above liking and dislinking can and will always be subject to discussions… 🙂

    • RE: How to report Spam

      @Midnight_Reaper Thank you for posting this. I have forked this posting to a separate topic.

      Let me just add that it would be great if everybody noticing spam would refrain from commenting on spam postings.
      Flagging the spam is totally sufficient to bring admin/moderators into action to remove and purge the dirt.

      Further commenting on spam means that we unneccessarily would have to deal with those comments too, that remain somehow isolated when the spam/the spam accounts have been removed.

      Thank you all for your help to keep this forum clean.

      @luftwaffles41 said in Quick Question on Movement:

      Everybody seems to be negating the fact that after combat, you can use the bit of movement you have left in your survived units to move wherever you want them to move.

      What do you think this “fact” is based on?

      After combat the “Noncombat Move Phase” takes place. And here the written rules are pretty clear (see page 22 Rulebook Europe 1940.2):

      "In this phase, you can move any of your units that didn’t move in the Combat Move phase or participate in combat during your turn. You will also land all your air units that participated in and survived the Conduct Combat phase. "

      HTH 🙂

      @martin Great, now enjoy gaming.

      You ususally can run different versions of TripleA side by side. It’s just that you need to perfectly know to load which savegame with which TripleA-version, then, as those aren’t always compatible.

      @oysteilo @Martin

      Are both of you on TripleA, engine version: 2.5.22294 ?

      To be sure that both of you are on the same map version you could remove and reinstall the map. In that case restart the the game from the very beginnning.

      Martin, are you using a Mac?

      @captainnapalm

      Notably, Manchuria does not count as originally controlled. I have no idea why it doesnt, since you control that territory at the start of the game.

      That is explanied in the Pacific rulebook, page 8:
      “A few territories in China have a Chinese emblem on them but
      are controlled by Japan at the start of the game. These
      territories are considered to belong to China originally, but
      have been captured by Japan.”

      @the_good_captain

      Yes.
      “After antiaircraft fire is resolved against the attacking air units…” includes escorting fighters. As those fighters are attacking, too, even explicitly stated in the mentioned errata’s optional rule :

      “Fighters can participate in strategic bombing raids. Attacking fighters may escort and protect the bombers, and they can originate from any territory, range permitting.”
