Hey aev, indeed, long time no see.Your error message indicates a conflict concerning the username/password combination.
This is what you should try:- Log out from the forum
- Clear your browser cache
- Log in back to the forum.
In case you logged in successfully, your Username/Password-combination would be correct.
Log out from the forum again. Clear the cache and now enter exactly the same credentials into the TripleA PBF-mask. Try to post and it should work.
If your above re-login to the forum failed, you would have entered an incorrect (maybe old and outdated) password. In that case you should either remember the current one or ask for a new one.

Welcome to the forum.
So the issue is not about emailing as the headline says, but rather about savegame-files that do not load or work correctly. Have I understood this correctly?
As TripleA is based on Java there usually should not be any problem related to the OS.
However I remember rare issues that are Mac related.@ubernaut I remember you use a Mac, right? Any insights?

What is the exact TripleA version that both of you use?
Please list the exact steps that you or your friend execute until the error occurs.
And - also important - state the exact error message that is issued. Copy-paste it or upload a screenshot.
You can upload the savegames here so we can try to load them and see what happens. -

I am sorry to hear that.
Again I can confirm to you, that this map runs perfectly fine on current installations.
Your error messages are not bound to a specific map, but to every one that encounters the problems you talk about. So we don’t talk about software issues but about things/issues on your side that we need to investigate.
I can continue to try to help you in case you provide the screenshots I asked you for above.
With the screenshots of your folder structure I can verify (or not) the correct (or not) installation.
So please read again what I asked you for above and provide the screenshots of the relevant folder structure and its contents.Also please post a screenshot of TripleA that opens after you started it.

Also, each time I start up Triple A on my desk top it does an installation of the newest updated version so it’s not because of old. Outdated engine.
So you seem to run the installer again and again every time you start it. And you always install the outdated version 2.5.22294 . If there were an update every time you run it, you would have installed the current version 2.7.15374 recently. What is not the case, as you stated yourself above.
I’m not that tech savvy to know much about the mechanics involved.
You see, I have been involved in TripleA (incl. mechanics) and giving support for more than 15 years,
I do that voluntarily and in my spare time.Unfortunatey you still refuse to cooperate and do what I repeatedly asked you to do. Instead you insist to “know it better”. In case you continue to unsubstantially contradict my words and attempts to help you, I am done, you need to help yourself, then.
Otherwise do this, as a last attempt to enable you to play that map from my side:
- Remove all the old and outdated stuff from your PC (maybe ask someone more familiar with the necessary computer routines to help you to correctly and completely clean it up):
- Correctly uninstall your current TripleA installation.
- Delete every map-file you have downloaded so far.
- Go to https://github.com/triplea-game/triplea/releases
- Find the most recent TripleA-version (as of writing this: 2026-January-21 - 2.7.15375, maybe there will be a newer one when you read this)
- Click on “Assets”
- Download the installer of the latest engine. For Windows it is TripleA_2.7+15375_windows-64bit.exe
- Install this TripleA-version.
- Run this TripleA-version
- From “Download Maps” find “World War I 1914” in the “New Maps” tab. Klick Install.
- From “Select Game” find “World War I 1914”, klick OK and then “Start Local Game”
- Enjoy playing.
- Download other maps you want to play accordingly.

@Tony That shows the location on your harddrive. Now please doubleclick on that zip file and post screenshots of the complete folder structure as I already asked you above. Why do you deny or at least hesitate to do that?
I am sure you won’t encounter any problems if you updated to a fresh install of as well TripleA (a current version, not the old one) as the map file.
Have you reported that to TripleA? What was the feedback?

Don’t waste our time with topics that are older than three years. There have been hundreds of updates and a lot of further development since then.

@Tony Sorry, my time is limited, so I want to ask you kindly to answer my questions as precisely as possible.
I gave you detailled hints concerning the information that I need. You answered only vaguely a fraction of what I asked for, unfortunately.

And that is why I asked you to provide screenshots of the folder structure of your map installation.I am downloading this game from the Triple A desk top icon as well from this website.
The software and the maps can (or at least should) only be downloaded from the ‘official’ TripleA repositories. This website (a&a .org) does not provide any ‘official’ TripleA-related files. Sometimes other users upload something here, but this can’t be given support for, as TripleA development is a constant process with hundreds of updates per year.

No, it starts the software only. There is no automatical update. If you run an outdated version you will run it always - until you will update manually to a newer version.
This Map is found in the lowest quality Maps section or experimental section.
This statement clearly indicates that you have installed an outdated TripleA version as well as an outdated map file.
As the respective map works perfectly for me I can only work with the details you give me.
Also the hints and help I can give you depend on your detailled input.

It works fine here, so I cannot reproduce the issue.The error message indicates that a specific file from the map installation is not at the place where TripleA expects it to be.
How did you download/install the map?
Please search for the downloadedMaps folder, on Windows it is to be found here:
C:\Users\YourUserName\triplea\downloadedMaps.
Post a screenshot of the folders within the downloadedMaps folder.
Then doubleclick the folder world_war_i_1914, enhance the window if necessary and post a screenshot of the complete content.And - again - which exact version of TripleA do you use?

I cannot find any related issue at the TripleA repository. So please repeat the procedure until you encouter the error. Please copy-paste the error message. After that klick “Report to TripleA” and copy paste the feedback. You can take screenshots and post them as well.
Also: Which exact TripleA-version are you using?
