Just saw this option. I’m about to try using them for the first time in Sea Lion. Interesting you can load them on BB and CA’s.

Starfleet Battles: Battle Group Tampa
Battle Group Tampa is getting active again. At the moment we have 8 active and semi active members with some possible additions that have expressed interest.
Anyone in or around the Tampa Bay area that is interested in regular SFB and tournament play can sound off in this thread or shot me an email at:

RE: What to do with the bid?
I know there is a thread that discusses the details of starting bids. If anyone has a specific link I’d appreciate it. Sounds like an interesting addition to the game.
Is it always the Allies that get bid $ or does the Axis? Is it dependent on player experience? Thanks.
RE: The German battleship
I normally do not send the battleship out to hit the British home fleet on G1. I’ll keep it where it’s at because I normally build an air craft carrier on G1. The Battleship along with the cruiser and air craft carrier is normally all I’ll need to utilize Sea Lion.
I’ll go after the fleet off of Scotland on G1 with two subs and whatever aircraft will reach, minus the strategic bombers which bomb London. I’ll go after the lone British cruiser with a couple of subs and use the fifth sub to go after the destroyer/transport off Canada. Yes, this leaves the fleet intact off London but it’s usually moved away on GB1. If not I can always go after it on G2 if I think it’s necessary.
My goal is Sea Lion by G4 most of the time.
RE: New tech in OOB?
Does anyone ever start out with one or more countries having tech? Like Germany starts with super subs or jets for example. Or one or more of the allies starting with tech? I’ve played around with it in the online game to one extend or another. Didn’t know if anyone has offered some sort of ‘standard’ that has panned out in play testing.
RE: Is sealion mandatory for high level play?
Since Russia can’t attack until later turns I find it fun/challenging to go for Sea Lion. I’ll buy a carrier on G1 and usually a strategic bomber. The bomber is to keep pressure on G.B. and keep them from having the resources to reinforce London as well as limit what they can to in Africa. G2 I’ll start building transports and recalling as many tanks as I can and having infantry in place for the amphibious assault. G3 is building whatever else is needed as well as another bomber. G3 I’ll hit Scotland with a force of 6 tanks and 6 infantry. G4 I’ll hit London with those 12 units from Scotland as well as 6 more tanks and 6 more infantry from Germany using the transports. Depending on what G.B. has to defend I’ll fly in as many bombers and fighters as necessary to make the assault successful. Russia is hitting my on the eastern front by that time but if I’ve timed it all right and the dice are in my favor I’ve taken out G.B. by the end of G4 and can turn my attention to Russia. Italy is there to back me up on the southeastern flank as well. Then I’ll start building three infantry in London every turn to defend while taking out the surviving tanks for use against Russia.
Hopefully I’ve remember most of the details correctly and it seems to work out pretty well most of the time.
RE: USA Strategy. Green Seas/Skies
My buy usually goes; Pacific Fleet buff to combat Japan 1:1 build. Atlantic; produce as much bombers and fighters as possible (end goal is to place these in London and pound German, Italian, and French factories into submission. Fighters produce a shield over London during counter raids. This allows UK to ignore building an air force and spend on army/navy to begin liberating France or destroying Italy.
That’s generally my plan for the US. I try to build 1 strategic bomber one each coast, each turn. East coast gets sent to London for raids on Normandy, France or Germany. West coast hopefully ends up in Iwo Jima to pound Japan. I’ll also try to build some destroyers on the East coast if Germany still has subs in the Atlantic. Those need to be cleared out in order to eventually get the cover navy across the pond with the transports for the Normandy invasion. Although Spain or Portugal comes in handy if the opportunity presents itself.
As a side note, if the US can get and maintain Iwo Jima for the launching point for bombers, ANZAC comes in handy if they can build some occasional bombers to send up for the assist. That or I’ll try to get at least one into China (if possible) to hit the minor complexes that Japan is/has set up.
G40 alternate alliances?
Back in the 80’s and 90’s we sometimes did alternate alliances with the classic AA version (only one we had back then). Maybe the Germans and the Russians were allies against the others and so forth. Lately I’ve been playing a lot of Triple A on the computer and have enjoyed it quite a bit. I’ve discovered that you can switch the various political alliances/change income amounts/add or change units etc. Quite interesting.
I’d like to ask if anyone has experimented with this feature (either on the computer or table top) of changing up alliances and such. And if so, what combinations have you found worked well? Have you had to add/change things for the different countries.
