I don’t buy it. It doesn’t excuse USSR to be this weak. The only conclusion I can come up with is ether they didn’t test Germany vs USSR enough OR they wanted USSR to be this weak.
Should Hainan be Original Chinese ?
-
Could move the Ftr there then if Allied controlled
-
@barnee Yeah, but not only are the chances of a fighter landing there is slim, China also can never land units on that territory as it is without a navy. Even so, why would China move units there? It isn’t worth any IPCs.
While Hainan is Chinese, I don’t really see a reason to make a Chinese core when it has no effect on gameplay. I personally vote no.
-
yea pretty slim.
Only reason I brought it up is because ANZC took it in the Capatain’s mod, it’s worth a buck there and UK had to fall back to India leaving the Flying Tiger in Burma by itself. Rest of China already conquered.
Would give it some temporary safe haven.
It was more of just was it originally Chinese to begin with. The way Shantung and Kiangsu are. Seems no reason it shouldn’t be.
Obviously it’s not gonna change :)
-
@barnee Nice question :) By the game rules it’s disallowed, but it would make sense from a historical perspective. I guess the game designers didn’t want to overcomplicate the rules by adding this as an exception.
-
I could see a scenario (albeit unlikely) where China chooses to build infantry on the island, as that would be allowed under the rules, land the fighter, and have a safe landing zone for Allies to threaten nearby Japanese ships.
-
It should be Formosa along with Manchukuo both be original Japanese areas, Formosa was Japanese since 1895 and Manchukuo Independent since 1931. Formosa can never be “chinese”. You might as well make the area east of Turkey including parts of Russia, India all part of China because Gennghis khan once owned it.
-
? Nobody’s saying Formosa should be Chinese (and it isn’t under out of box rules). barnee is asking for Hainan to be Chinese. Hainan was only conquered by the Japanese in 1937 alongside the other original Chinese territories.
@barnee Maybe you can ask The Captain to make Hainan originally Chinese in his house rules.
