That one was crazy.
Desert Admiral (Axis) vs FMRommel (Allies+16)

javax.net.ssl handshake exception:sun.security validator.validation exception pkix path building failed.
The technical description of the error is very long. For whatever reason, the internet connection is failing just for the new game. The old game still works, I just tried it again. I’m not a technical person, but the marti system has a limited function: your email address and mine, The data for the connection has developed a problem that started in G1. Perhaps a data item was corrupted. My computer is old, but I haven’t had any problem like this before.
-
What do you think is best thing to do? We could have you set up a new game and test your rolling. Then just start over.
-
@Desert_Admiral or you could start up and we can redo m oves and edit as appropriate for initial results.
-
I’m testing
-
do you have another email address registered with marti? If so, I can try to use that instead. I’ll work on this late this afternoon. Going outside.
-
-
@Desert_Admiral I’ve seen your tests. Any luck?
-
No luck. I deleted all the save games for the new game and yet when I choose PBEM in the triplea launcher, it still brings up the email addresses and title for the new game that doesn’t work. I re-installed triplea and same thing. I started a new local game. But when I save it and go back to the launcher for PBEM, it still brings the title for the game that doesn’t work. I will consult an IT friend.
-
I uninstalled all copies of Triplea and reinstalled the latest. No success. Its not just our game. I tested the new game that I started with S.A. but haven’t had combat yet (waiting for his scramble decision) and that also failed. So something in the network or config file is bad. Waiting for my IT friend to help.

The reason for your issue is most likely a Java incompatibility.

The issue has been resolved a couple of times in the TripleA Support Forum.
Either research there, or I can help you here.
Please do this:- Start TripleA
- Start a Local Game
- When the game has started find the Menu Debug and then click Show Console
- When the Console has opened, click the button Properties
- Then click Copy to Clipboard

Thanks for looking into this Panther. I uninstalled and reinstalled the latest Triplea and no improvement. The problem only occurs on new games. I can keep the Triplea launcher open and call up an old game and Marti test is successful. The problem is with game 32718 and another game that I just started, 32735.
-
@FMErwinRommel Will it let you start a game?
-
Yes, I started a new local game in order to get the debug properties
-
@FMErwinRommel Can you start a game and roll or can you not start nor use someone else’s start?
-
I started a game with S.A. last week and tested Marti yesterday after he finally responded to scramble request. I did Marti test before doing any actual combat because I knew if it failed in the test that it wouldn’t work in actual combat. I started a test game at Panther’s request in order to get the debug results. Appears that I can start but not do combat for any new game, mine or someone else’s.
-
Java is the culprit, indeed.
@FMErwinRommelThis is the culprit:
java.runtime.version=1.8.0_66-b17 java.home=c:\program files\common files\i4j_jres\1.8.0_66
Your are using a way outdated Java, that does not include the latest security certificates needed.
This old version had been installed by a bundled TripleA-version sometimes in the past.
You won’t find this Java version in the Control Panel, so you need to manually remove it.
Please use the Explorer to browse to c;\program files\common files\ and find the directory “i4j_jres”.Please delete the i4j_jres directory including its subdirectories manually.
After that download the latest version of Java 8 from
https://java.com/en/download/manual.jsp
and install it.It should work then.
Good luck - and ask back in case of questions. :smiley: -
@Panther Can I have a cup of Java? :)
-
Thanks Panther. I removed the old Java and installed the latest, both 32 and 64-bit, in order for it to work in the Triplea launcher, and marti test dice worked.
-
You are welcome :smiley:
Actually you don’t need both Java versions.
As you are on a 64bit Windows you only need the 64bit-TripleA-installation as well as the 64bit Java.In case you installed the 32bit TripleA version, you would need the 32bit Java, too.
I recommend that you use 64bit versions of both on your system. You can uninstall the 32bit versions, then.
