RE: The new forum has been a lot of work and it's not done yetposted in Website/Forum Discussion
@djensen Thank you for all what you are doing for us. :+1:
Myself, I have spent an unusual amount of time on the forum and in front of my PCs before, during and after the migration, in order to identify problems, deal with feedback, provide information, give support, suggesting my ideas as regards content and organization, sorting threads, cleaning-up topics… just to name some activities. (Thank you to my family for their understanding :hearts: )
Now, I don’t even do this as a business, I do it just for fun. As Dave with this site gives me the chance to ideally combine my hobbies: I love strategic boardgames, I am an IT-interested autodidact, I love to moderate discussions and deal with change management. Doing all of this and the feedback I sometimes get from the community is “salary” enough.
Instead, I will be happy to donate another 50 USD for my next 2019 Gold patronage in some weeks.
I don’t expect that everyone takes the same fun out of this site as I do. And I am aware that only a fraction of users even reads the topics in this category including this thread. But in case you read it, and in case you take some fun out of this website and have not donated so far - please consider doing it now!

UHD World War II Global map in Triple A
Look under the experimental tab.
I think you need 2.5.22294 to see it, can’t use a .6To run it under TripleA 2.6.x do as follows:
Go to
https://github.com/triplea-maps/uhd_world_war_ii_globalKlick on the green “code” button:

Now - in the window that just opened - click “Download ZIP” to download the zip-container of that map.

Move the downloaded zip-file to the “downloadedMaps” directory of your TripleA installation.
After that start TripleA. The zip-file will be extracted and the map will be available from the “Select Game” dialogue.
Enjoy!

Current TripleA / MARTI / PBF / PBEM / GMail Issuesposted in TripleA Support
Currently this community when using TripleA suffers from some serious problems described and discussed here and - more important - on the triplea-game .org forum.
https://forums.triplea-game.org/topic/3124/nodebb-1-17-and-later-breaks-pbf-compatibilityhttps://forums.triplea-game.org/topic/3061/marti-issues
Everybody feel free to add your concerns to the above mentioned topics. You don’t reach the developer(s) here but over there.
Concerning the Play-By-Forum issue:For quite some time now the issue is that TripleA has been incompatible with the current forum software (NodeBB). The issue will not be resolved until the forum software and the TripleA software will be ‘harmonized’. Unfortunately I do not know whenever this will happen. As a workaround you will need to manually send the game history and load up manually created savegames to the forum. You can use ‘Play by Email’ instead of ‘Play by Forum’ to start the game and use the dice server. You don’t need to configure the email settings in the ‘Play by EMail’ form. -

@djensen I have just bought “Gold” as usual. Happy New Year!
Paypal went just flawlessly. I just wondered about the “MARK PAYPAL PPPL” indication during the transaction.
But Paypal’s overview shows “Livid Labs” as usual. -

What does the New version brings?
I hope they publish a “What’s New?” or add the Release Notes anytime soon.
However, there have been hundreds if not thousands of updates in four years since 2.5. TripleA software development is a continuous process.
If you are deeper interested you might want to check out the notes of all the pull requests that resulted in (pre-) releases on Github in the meantime until they publish something more:

The ‘Classic Tournament’ plays A&A Classic, what refers to the 1984 MB edition of the boardgame.
Find the rules here:

RE: Global 2nd edition Q+A ( AAG40.2)posted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
By the rulebook (Europe 1940 2ed, page 10):
“Friendly neutrals … … They can be moved into (but
not through) as a noncombat move by land units of a
power that is at war (see “Noncombat Move,” page 22).
This moves the territory out of its neutral status at the
end of the Noncombat Move phase”.So the answer is “No”.
You’d need to move the mech infantry and the regular infantry at the same time.
The mech infantry can’t “move through”.

@VictoryFirst Very good. Please see https://github.com/triplea-game/triplea/issues/14440#issuecomment-4535730485 too. I think this issue urgently needs more attention, too.
In any case we need a solution that is compatible with both forums.

RE: Forum posting testposted in Play Boardgames
Just one additional info: I am by far no expert concerning the depth of NodeBB. But I prompted Gemini about the changes from NodeBB 1.X to 3.X as well as from 3.x to 4.x and the consequences for the TripleA software and Play by Forum. I got some interesting results, that seem to indicate that especially the change from 3 to 4 has serious consequences and changes regarding the “nodebb-write-api” that seem to lead to a different approach implementing PBF in NodeBB 4. I doesn’t sound to be trivial (at least to me).
I don’t understand too much of that, so I recommend that you maybe prompt the AI of your choice with details and maybe the error message, too. The result should give you something to get deeper into it.

RE: Forum posting testposted in Play Boardgames
Also FWIW this forum is on NodeBB 3.4.3, TrA-forum is on NodeBB 4.10.3.
When this forum switched from NodeBB 1.9 to 3.4.3 there were PBF incompatibilities, too.

RE: Forum posting testposted in Play Boardgames
I wonder why you have 2.7+00000 as version?
As current 2.7-prereleases work fine here but not over there, I suppose the issue is somehow related to the NodeBB-update.

yea triplea updated nodeBB recently. I think you have to manually do it for now
The update of the forum software of https://forums.triplea-game.org/ only afffects PBF there.

15025 is the latest pre that still centers the Players turn start on their Capital. Otherwise, you need to turn tech on for it to center on releases after that.
https://forums.triplea-game.org/topic/3741/curated-best-top-maps-triplea-guides?page=1
Noticing that I am unable to open game files in many cases. What causes this? Are newer versions of TripleA able to open all game files from older versions? Or do I need to be using the same base version (e.g., 2.6x can open from any 2.6x but 2.7x cannot open 2.6x), etc.? How does it work.
Sometimes there are compatibility breaking changes when TripleA is further developped to newer versions. The last breaking change, IIRC, has been at any time during 2.6 development (unfortunately I don’t remember ecactly at which point). This is why I always recommend to finish games with the version they have been started with - and to start new games with updated versions.
A stable version of 2.6 was first withdrawn and then no longer offered. It has been outdated for a long time. Currently 2.7 is said to be ‘released as stable’ “soon”. -
