    @ Panic

Did you already dl 1807 ? If you go to the lobby it will tell you what version you’re running. I haven’t heard of anybody on windows having trouble

  • '17 '16 '15

sounds like this fixed the mac issue if anyone wants to give it a shot

    @Karl,
can you redownload and try again?
I think we fixed it this time.

    OK, will do!

  • For Windows users:

    1.8.0.7 runs fine.

If there are any doubts you can install 1807 next to 1805 and try it out before you delete 1805.

WORKS!  Good work.  No problems for MAC use.

Thanks barney. Pretty sure still 1805 but opened triple a to check and this time I got the new version prompt. Go figure! Currently installing.

    Cheers

Noone else seems to be having any trouble, and the online lobby is full of mac users, windows users, and linux users, all on 1807, so I am going to call this resolved.

  • Not to doubt that the problem is resolved, but as a techno-dinosaur I would welcome help with a couple of problems. I downloaded 1807 yesterday (in the process of which I seemed to have to download something called FileOpenerPro) and now:

    1. Triple A is still opening as 1805. P@nther did mention in an earlier post an opportunity to have both versions running next to each other. Cannot find 1807 in my programmes list. Certainly is not in the Triple A folder. Is it loading somewhere else?

    2. I am getting links to an online casino (Arcade Twist?) all over these boards. Very annoying.

Thanks to anyone who can help.

    PP

  • In my post of a moment ago two words (“download” and “casino”) have been turned into Arcade Twist links!

  • Have managed to uninstall Arcade Twist and the links seem to have gone. Do I need to keep FileOpenerPro?

Surely I am not the only one to have these unintended downloads accompanying 1807?

  • PP, it seems that you have downloaded crapware with tripleA.

tripleA itself does NOT contain any crapware like this - so one has to be really careful about downloading from sourceforge.

When installing 1805 next to 1807 please make sure to install to another installation directory.

On my drive it is (better say “was” as I already deleted 1805):

    x:\Games\triplea_1_8_0_5
    and
    x:\Games\triplea_1_8_0_7

(x stands for any hard drive)

I always download the “all platforms”-zip file, to be found here:

    http://sourceforge.net/projects/tripleamaps/files/TripleA/stable/1_8_0_7/

and unzip it manually to the above location. This way I can be sure that no unintended crap will be installed with it.

Inside this directory at the said location there is a tripleA.exe that starts tripleA for Windows.

    HTH :-)

Sounds like you did not actually download triplea, but instead clicked some stupid advertisement which was trying to pretend to be your download.

Here is the link you need to click, and please read what is on the screen so you do not randomly click some vicious advert: https://sourceforge.net/projects/triplea/files/TripleA/1_8_0_7/

I also humbly suggest installing some ad-blocking plugin, after switching to using Chrome or Firefox.  You should also uninstall whatever weird crap you just downloaded, and have your computer checked for viruses and adware.

  • Thanks P@nther & Veqryn.

I believe that Veqryn has it right. I do not think I was ever prompted for a file location.

I’ll sort it out when I can spend some time at the computer. Hopefully my experience will help other techno-phobes to avoid the problem, since I did follow the steps/links indicated earlier in this thread.

  • All sorted now and just took a forum go using 1807.

The problem was my own stupidity. At some point in the process sourceforge offered me a great big download button, which I carelessly clicked. The triple a download button was much less obvious.

Hopefully anyone reading this will now be able to avoid the trap!

    Hi Veqryn,
Thank you for your great work with TripleA.
It seems to be an issue with the retreat option in the sea battles. It does not give this option. I’ve attached the file. Please take a look when you get a time.
    Thanks.

    Ger 1 CM P.tsvg

  • i second that, really wonderful work. you can’t be thanked enough.

i too am experiencing the inability to retreat during a naval battle. unfortunately, this could be a really big problem!

I think this has already been reported in the bud tracker. It looked like it was diagnosed but I haven’t seen anything about a fix.

    http://sourceforge.net/p/triplea/bugs/1118/

just saw this mentioned in league discussion. So it didn’t happen in 05 but does in 07 ?

  • Customizer

can someone please confirm if this problem happens in 1.8.0.5 as well, or is it new to 1.8.0.7?

and also, can someone please confirm if this problem happens in a FRESH 1.8.0.7 game (ie: start the game from scratch using 1807)?
