Any Interest in a G40 tournament?

better start a sticky thread JWW.  you probably just missed the gargantua XDAP tourney.  it started back in May and will hopefully be complete by November of this year…  :-P

it’s been great fun…  i’m sure there would be a lot of interest in another tournament, esp if there was a prize pool like the XDAP tourney.

I’d be interested.

I think two games at the same time would be do-able, where you play your opponent as both sides.  3rd game a s tie breaker.  However, in the interest of keeping the tournament from taking half of a year, I would be okay with a one game win or lose game.  Then I could blame luck if my strategy sucked.  :-P

What about an agreed upon handicap across the board for everyone, to make the playing field level.  The Allies get +X for everyone playing the Allies?

No I am in garg’s…we are just waiting for the next round…it’s going kinda slow for our team, that’s all.

Kinda torn on whether I’d have time to participate myself but I’m pretty confident you’d get at least 8 participants JWW, if not 16+.

An idea that I like is a round-robin competition.  Divide it into 6-man divisions, where each participant plays 5 games.  Seed the divisions using Gamerman’s rankings.

Advantages would include
-everyone plays 5 games
-we’d see some close games that would provide good data
-winning a round robin against 5 other players would arguably be a better achievement than winning a tourney, because it would be harder to pull through via luck or dice.

I guess the disadvantage is not everyone would want to play 5 games (4-5 person divisions instead to lighten the load?).  And we’d have to decide if the games should count for the league or not.
