those damned allied bombers!
That USA turn took me pretty much all day. Â Which is why G40 will probably remain #2 in my book… Â But you can play well with not a lot of time, seemingly. Â It’s taken me 5 times as long as you to put out a competitive game, and you still might slam dunk me in 12 rounds
I’ve got lot of games under my belt for G40, experience (like everything) helps to quickly see and put together necessary longterm strategies that the game requires, unlike maybe as much in aa50. Â The airbases, sea bases really change the entire movement dynamic and basic concepts of sea/air defense. Â AA50 like basic 42 I think actually does a good job of creating “fog of war” in that because the spacning and movement offers so many options you really can’t acurately anticipate your oponent’s moves with any high degree of certainty. Â With G40 not so much. Â The air/naval bases are critical to moving quickly and only offer so many options which reduces the fog. Â A buddy of mine who used to play G40 quit becuase he said it was more like chess than a fun war game with unexpected events. Â That’s why I like it more maybe. Â That being said aa50 is an excellent game. Probably the highest quality game. Â I played soul(sp) and got KILLED in the aa50 tourney. Â Kept forgetting the turn order among other basic errors.
The best learning experience was losing to Kmskay(sp)? in the g40 tourney as the allies, and also to Axisplayer in the league as the allies. Â Those were games I thought I was crushing my oponants only to suddenly find myself out in the cold. Â
That being said, this game is still up for grabs for sure. Â If I don’t win in the next 3/4 rounds, it’s yours…. although, I got a few tricks left, maybe
