as soon as you get knocked out of the tournament, i am ready.

i think i am in the same position as you right now, which is running out of opponents. i have asked everyone in tier one of gamerman’s rankings for a game, with the exception of those that are still in the xdap

2 or 3 game maximum per opponent is not enough….

I waited, but I am now downgrading Jeff to tier 2
Almost everyone will be negatively affected by this….

I glanced at the game board vs. Odonis.  It was round 10, and was definitely contested…  Looked to me like Jeff was eventually going to win, but the fact that he wasn’t summarily dispatching a player who is currently tier 3 kind of tipped the scales…  I hesitate to downgrade someone who’s racking up losses because of no-show, but looking at some of these no-show boards he was not looking dominant and was borderline tier 1 anyway.

Time to take the hit, all past opponents of Jeff…

Karl over Tyzoq not counted, but noted at bottom to reconcile to league records that don’t exist.  (Just in case the moderator(s) decide to cop out and just use my records, which is a distinct possibility)

I am Gamerman, and I don’t count victories in any kind of game where 1 player never made a single move - KARL!
Nor do I count games where only 1 move was made and it didn’t include a single attack on the enemy - JEFF!

Man, if I move my Queen’s pawn forward 2 spaces, and then my opponent has to get up and leave, I don’t count that as a victory.  I just don’t get you guys.

Geeze Gamerman…. I took the concession mostly because Tyzog said he didn’t know if he’d even come back. Having games gathering dust when you got 4 or so going at once can be distracting.

That aside, your position is illogical.  What difference does it make for the legitimacy of a game win by concession if 10 moves were made or no moves if one’s opponent just quits? None.

If your position is any concession for reasons unrelated to the game does not count as a win then I would understand.  (Yet even then you’d face issues of guys who are losing quitting claiming some non-game reason to avoid the loss.)  Sounds like your making a judgment call based on non-objective criteria – unless you have criteria that I don’t know.

Anyhow, your rankings, your system.  Just pointing these issues out.

Good point about guarding against people just quitting after witnessing a great G1 against them.
So it’s not the same as chess, because you don’t roll dice when moving the queen’s pawn forward 2 spaces.  :-)

Subjective criteria, yes.  I know that’s not what Tyzoq is doing.  He’s just decided right after starting a game that he didn’t want to play it.
Now if you tell me you had unbelievably good dice, I will reconsider.

Like I said, my opinion doesn’t matter when it comes to official league standings (which don’t currently exist).  Your win counts according to the league - my rankings are for fun and information only.  That’s why I noted it at the bottom.

You are officially 16-13.  You are unofficially 15-13.  OK?
Oh, and I’m not sure what your comments about the playoffs meant - it seemed like you thought this would HELP Tyzoq get into the playoffs?  Maybe I misunderstood.
Your claiming the win officially, effectively KILLS Tyzoq’s playoff chances, which is another reason I certainly wouldn’t have claimed the win if I was in your shoes.  But like I said, I just “don’t get you guys”.  Different strokes for different folks.

I have 29 games under my belt?  Holy smokes!  :-P

I hate taking games by concession. But I also don’t like having games swinging out in the wind with an opponent that may or may not return.

Tyzog, if you are watching, if you come back let me know and I will withdraw the concession!  Please do!
