  • @Degrasse @redrum if you don’t mind. It is a very strange game and it is causing me too much worry, I am afraid .

  • TripleA

@Wittmann We accept your surrender and will be kind enough to let all of the Carthaginians and Seleucids be Roman slaves!

@Wittmann @Private-Panic @Wittmann @captainwalker Thoughts on what map you’d like to play next? Maybe we shouldn’t let Adam pick this time ;)

  • @redrum Am I the only one that likes TAW then?

  • @Private-Panic I’m ok with it. The 2 things I really don’t like about it are:

    1. The roaming AI barbarians
    2. The map feels too small so that it quickly comes down to just a few large battles

The targeted attacks and high degree of randomness doesn’t really bother me but it can be hard for many people to stomach.

targeted attacks and high degree of randomness

What do you mean by that @redrum ?

  • @Private-Panic So for ships on the map they each get a 1/6 roll against another type of ship. This causes lots of high impact small dice rolls where if one side hits a few of those and the other doesn’t then it vastly swings the average outcome. I think if you look at all the Rome/Carthage naval battles this game, you can see how far from average some of the results are and the difference of I have like 80% win chance with +60 TUV then end up losing with -60 TUV.

  • @redrum I agree that ships getting a possible preemptive hit can be hard on one side . I also think it is hampered by variety in price of the units too. It seems better having the 4 IPC units , compared to the 6 and 7 IPC ones, as a casualty is always a casualty.
The Barbarians are very random and game changing.
And you are right, it did come down to a few big stacks facing each other off.
    Sorry Adam!
You were good at this game though; I can have the grace to admit that.

Has anyone tried either the Middle Earth map or one of the Civil War maps?

  • TripleA

@Degrasse I’ve played both middle earth maps and Civil War :)

Civil war probably isn’t a good option given its only 2 player and very complex.

Both middle earth maps are pretty decent. The first one is more simple and easier to learn. The newer one (Battle for Arda) is pretty cool but a bit more complex as it has terrain types and targeted attacks and high movement units.

  • Thanks All! I have enjoyed our games, even though I think I was on the losing side for too many of them! But I think I would like to take a break for a while. Hope you enjoy your next game. You will be free to play WaW now! :grinning:

  • TripleA

Ok. We can take a break for a bit. Seems that @Wittmann scares all his teammates away!
