Over the past hour or so that I’ve been working on my Russian turn, I again realized that this is a very good game. I am NOT “coasting”, because one is not coasting who spends an hour on a turn. While I am supremely confident of the result, it will not be without many hours of intense thinking (I love this game - the strategy and the puzzles and the guessing and the dice and the little green army men……)
I want to be clear - you’re playing a good game, and if I make it to round 4 I will have really earned it, going through Axis_roll, Dutchman, and yourself (and I have never defeated any of these players before this tourney - you’re the only one I’ve even played 1v1, and that only once). There were no easy games for me in this tournament. And the winner of this game gets to face the #1 seed, Yoshi, who has handled me twice before.
A happy Thanksgiving to you, too.
I look forward to seeing your super-power move and to responding with the 3 mid-sized allies…
And for the record - a UK with 6 fighter planes and a bomber, 5 transports, a large army on the European mainland, and an income of 32 is not weak, no matter how many territories Japan has picked off. :-)
Also, until this turn Russia has not been fighting a “two-front war” as you said, for many rounds now, as measured by the number of new units purchased and sent West. I have been turning 90% of the attention toward Japan for several rounds now, as evidenced by the taking of StC, Far, and 5 Chinese territories as of R16. :-) It looks like you are threatening one last pincer on the Bear with Germany and Japan, so you are now turning it into a 2-front war for them, but it hasn’t been a 2-front war for Russia for quite a few rounds now.
