We usually give four random advantages to the Axis (2 for German and two fro Japan) and three to the Allied (1 for each of them) and really the game is more fun, always different and posed differents problem each time we played.
For me there is already enough randomness in this game due to the dice. We like to play were each side gets to CHOOSE which NA they get. Each side gets an even number of NAs (4 each, so one allied player gets two NAs, allies get to choose which one)
NA addition by choice is one of the main features of the Enhanced rules set. Look in house rules if this might pique our interest or PM me.
Er… I have already noted the link at bottom of your posts and I have already printed the Enhanced rules… I only should convince my friends to use them! :-)
I still not have used them, but at first look they are very interesting!
Really we are still exploring the possibilities of the opening moves, without any other addiction, so often we play without NA or Reasearch. As you said the game already have a lot of randomness, expecially first turn where the battle are usually fought with less dices, and the initial situation of the second round depends also from the random dice results as depends from the opening moves of the players. But I think that is coming the moment that we try to introduce NA and Reasearch in every game.
