How close are the new army colors to those of Axis & Allies 1940?

Where can the additional set be brought? At ebay.com did not find replacement set for Germany, UK & Austria-Hungary

I think I’ll point out one issue you may have missed:
If you move all of your units out of a territory you control, you still retain control of that territory until an enemy moves into and captures it. (A&A 1914 Rule Book, pg 15).

This means that you do not need to maintain infantry in every territory you control. Now you do have to keep infantry in territories where you otherwise have troops, An army in a territory must contain at least one infantry unit. (A&A 1914 Rule Book, pg 15). But if you pull everybody out, you don’t need to leave a trail of infantry behind.

I’m not saying that A&A '14 has all of the pieces it should have, but the piece shortage is exacerbated when you leave garrisons behind when you don’t need to.

Couldn’t pass up the deal. The game is ridiculously overpriced usually. Europe and Pacific 1940 were only around $70 when I got them, but $100? And it’s apparently lacking enough pieces. C’mon! $60 was a good deal though. And free shipping.  :wink:Plus I have been meaning to get it, but couldn’t justify the cost. Here’s hoping for a good game when it gets here in a week. :-)

Would be neat to see the Chinese communists represented, they should have special guerrilla abilities (may be placed in an occupied territory, attacks on a 3 for the first round). They should also get an IPC bonus (maybe 3-4) if nearby Russia maintains nearby territories. Goes without saying they can’t occupy the same territories as Nationalist units.

Canada is definitely a no-brainer, I would let them start with what’s on the board and just add a destroyer at SZ1, and they get a 5 IPC bonus if they control all their original territories plus Newfoundland/Labrador.

Well, Africa was the site of several campaigns throughout the war, and those territories were important in the overall “clash of empires”-vibe that really defined the beginning of WWI.  From what I have read, only the Western Front bogged down into extensive trench warfare, and that area is where it shall be a matter of yards.  The Eastern Front and Africa will be more mobile, I would imagine.  Otherwise, as you stated, Shakespeare, that really would be utterly impractical unless Larry stays true to his tendency for really wildly skewed map projections.
