    It is a common practice in the forum to ask somebody to skip france in order to save unnecessary space.

    Can we please just proceed with francs SKIPPED doing nothing?

    Hmm it is really tough for me to calm down at this point.
    yes you warned me but I assumed you were only kidding. I have seen many other games where France was asked to be skipped.

    I dont get it. what is your plan? I am always worried that in my non native language I might be misunderstood. But I explained my reason that I just wanted to save unncessary save games in the forum because this influenced the forum performance in the past.

    Now I am very very sad and annoyed. I consider this behavior as extreme unsportsmanlike. This this a desperate attempt to save your statistics because your position is hopeless?

    I asked the rules deputy to rule this situation.

    I am still somehow speechless because I do not understand that action. This is a sportmanlike community and I have no idea why anybody would like to make such actions. I really simply don’t get it. Especially as we skipped France the third time and all your warnings do not at all justify your action.

    This is completely clear (unambiguous).  That post indicates to you what the decision for France’s turn is.  It is to do nothing.

    You are not allowed to make decisions contrary to those your opponent indicated, on behalf of your opponent.  It is unsportsmanlike, unless you are just teasing your opponent, which is also inappropriate.

    There’s another thing I just realized.  There is no such thing as “declaring war on the neutrals”.  That is a Triple A construct.  True neutrals are only violated per the rulebook if an actual attack is made on a true neutral.  I haven’t looked at the map, but if it was physically impossible for France to move anything into a strict neutral, then it is impossible for the true neutrals to join the Axis per the rulebook.  But this point is moot, because of the first point that JDOW clearly said “skip France”.

    Re-do Germany without a Triple A neutrals declaration from France, or resign, those are your two choices.


  • I would rather not have to make the French move. If saving space is an issue, not posting the Chinese and ANZAC turns would save more space. (It would not be hard, in most cases, to determine what was done.)

    I made a big mistake by taking on a Level 1 player before I was ready. I compounded that mistake by making the worse mistake of giving a bonus of 18 ipcs. I will have to live with consequences of these mistakes. I explained exactly what I what do if I was stuck with making the French turn a third time. You made a mistake of ignoring two warnings and not considering all the consequences.

    I do not expect that your mistake will make up for mine. Your Allied strategy is truly uniques and impressive. In any event, baring absolutely terrible strategic errors on your part (which in all probability you will not make) or absolutely horrible Marti rolls by Allies (which is not likely), you will win game. I decided to translate my kidding into real action, because it makes the playing the game fun for me again.

    Dude seriously, this is PATHETIC. I have never seen such unsportsman-like and crazy behavior in that community. It is beyond any kind of reasonable behavior to try to win games like that. Do you have ZERO sense about sportsman ship?

    To make a couple of things clear:

    • Asking to skip France is NOT a horrible strategic mistake
    • Warnings do NOT justify unsportsman-like behavior (“judge: You smashed his head with a hammer”. You: “so? He asked to to put it in the table and I warned him twice that a hammer is a weapon which could be used to kill people and he still have it to me”)

    I know I sound aggressive and I am right now but in fact in the end I am just shocked and stunned.
    Your action diminishes the fun I have with this game and it undermines the idea of expecting both sides to act in good faith.
    People like you make me lose the faith sportsmanship and that makes me sad.

    NO, this was the best decision you made so far. You know who my opponent in my first league was? Have a guess?
    It was gamerman. And in this game I learned more than I would have by bashing 20 weak players. Trust me, it does not make you better to bash weak players. I have made less than 20 A&A games in my life. I owe my current skill level that I almost only play strong opponents.
    If you are truly interested to master the game and to become tier 1 you should not play any tier 3-4 from now and only play tier E, 1 or 2. This is best way to climb the tiers!

    This is not compatible by providing on overview of the actions in the forum. Often players do check the threads with smartphones and would like to get an overview about what happened in the forum. recently alexgreat just asked roboto to post each nation for exact same reason.
    in case both players don’t care skipping US and China is an option. However I do care and would like to have each of those nations posted.

    In the end:
    This is now prejudice but I truly believe right now that you need to be a young gun, am I right? you are over-ambitious and you are totally obsessed by your stats and don’t know (yet) that sportsmanship, trust and acting reasonably and in good faith is MUCH MUCH MUCH more important than stats. and, even more important, it brings you faster to your goal, mastering the game and become a tier 1 player.

    And at the very end one last question:
    If you would be in the same situation again: Your opponent is asking you something in good faith. Would you again try to exploit good faith in order to get an advantage in any game?

    Artofwar took this literally and did roll a new set of dice. The overall combat values are identical and the second set of dice is even worse because of convoy damage, however I’d like to know my options? Can I choose or is any of the given set of dice to be taken as official?

    Believe me, I know that difficult position which are supposed to lead to defeat are not always fun to play. But are you still keeping a certain game speed from here? I don’t like to play too many games at a time but would on the other hand prefer to keep my existing games in a solid pace.

    I usually NEVER ask people to resign because I  believe this is not good sportsman ship and this decision should be neither be forced nor suggested under normal circumstances.

    Our game now became somehow special, even the dominant position is not really fun to play anymore for me. So if you don’t have fun with the game anymore, too and do not believe you have realistic winning chances, this might be an exception where I would consider to resign in your shoes.

    If you would like to continue - which is totally ok of course - I would appreciate a reasonable game speed for the rest of the game.

  • There is nothing to gain by quitting. I cannot learn by not playing. (As a relative novice, I learn much from playing all levels of opponents, but I learn the most from higher level opponents.) I have have absolutely no chance of winning if I quit. (I have been in a worse position and managed to win, albeit against a Level 2 opponent). Although it is obviously far more fun to be winning, it is still challenging and thus entertaining to try to overcome a disadvantage. (A main reason I play G40 is that it involves a considerable amount of problem solving.)

    Unless there are special circumstances, I will respond within the 72 hour limit. I cannot promise quick responses because the Axis position is precarious and your strategy is unfamiliar. Thus I must think carefully about each move.

    You should not feel any pressure to resign - that is totally your decision until victory conditions are actually met.

    I think JDOW just didn’t want you to deliberately stall.  You have no obligation to post in less than 72 hours.
