Just for the record: this was a (slightly simplified) 8/8 @2 from 2 opponents in a RU12 and a UK1.
I just need to write that down to keep mind that my opponent’s dices by definition can only get worse from here

  • You mean they can’t get better!

They could stay the same!

  • 15 14

True, so I just hope this is not gonna happen^^

  • Well, I was getting perfect dice (I think) until I lost a bomber to a Chinese artillery

I can’t remember for sure, but I don’t think China can control (collect income) from Hong Kong when India is in Axis hands.  There is an ambiguous statement in the rulebook, but it says in two places that Hong Kong and Burma can not be controlled by China, so I’m going by that.

  • Yes, perfect dice for first 4 battles, but then you started getting luckier :)

    @Gamerman01:

Well, I was getting perfect dice (I think) until I lost a bomber to a Chinese artillery

I can’t remember for sure, but I don’t think China can control (collect income) from Hong Kong when India is in Axis hands.  There is an ambiguous statement in the rulebook, but it says in two places that Hong Kong and Burma can not be controlled by China, so I’m going by that.

Hey Gamerman, are you sure about that? Could you refer to and quote the statements which do not allow China to control Kwangtung at all? I really don’t want to be squeezy or so because I could benefit from China controlling Kwangtung or Burma, however the only words in the rulebook I could find about that to my understanding clearly state the opposite:

    Pacific rulebook page 10.

    However, Kwangtung
    and Burma are special cases
. Although they are not Chinese
territories, Chinese forces can move into them. These are
the only non-Chinese territories that Chinese units can
occupy. China can even temporarily control them, but only
if it recaptures them from the Axis while India is under Axis
    control

The same is mentioned in the box on the map. To me this really sounds like China can collect income from them if India is under Axis control and in case India would get liberated I would assume them to be converted to UK Pac then.

  • 15 14

I btw know that this means nothing, but TripleA allows china to at least control Burma as happened in Wheatbeer vs Bold:
    http://www.axisandallies.org/forums/index.php?topic=32023.75

Just in case they would not be allowed I would inform them just to spread the news and maybe another bug on the list.

But still, currently I would believe they can control them under the given circumstances in our game.

The copy of the 2nd edition rulebook that I am looking at on the Avalon Hill website does not have the statements you describe.  Also, China is on page 9 and not on page 10. We are not looking at the same rulebook.

OK, I found my original Pacific rule book and I see I have penciled in there that Krieghund said that China can indeed control Hong Kong and Burma when India is in Axis hands.

I guess you will be walking in and picking up an easy 3 IPCs then.

Thanks for clarification. I attached a screenshot of the rulebook I was referring to

    Rulebook
    –- Pacific 1940 —
    Second
    Edition

Of course bit weird there are different rulebooks out there. Which one are you referring to? Is there a link? I can not upload mine because it is 87 MB

  • I already provided the link - it’s at the beginning of my previous post!

  • 15 14

Sorry, I should have seen that :-/

  • 15 14

It seems to me you referred to the first edition rule book. I guess the second edition is the latest version and state of the art?

Here is the link of the version I am using:

  • I must have bookmarked the original rulebook when I thought it was 2nd edition

Got the right one now I guess - thanks

Super complicated move, all of US/CHI/UK are connected somehow. I didn’t see a future to take Norway and hold it for one lousy round, even if this could have killed the Bomber in Finland.
I am still nervous because I don’t understand why you deployed it there. The only advantage in that position I see is that you could bring it faster to Japan to have a new can opener.

This is the first time I am actually superstitious and despite the fact that the impact is far from being decisive I kind of feel coursed of never getting my US NorthEast clean and I already predict 2 hits on Aleutian Island from the pesky Japanese Inf there :-/

Kind of funny, but I consider it sports to delay the collapse of the fragile defense of Moscow, Middle East and China as long as possible:D
