Issues with Field Marshal Games?

  • Hello! I’m in the process of finishing up my custom table (will post photo’s tonight or tomorrow. It’s awesome!), and ordered some brass flight stands from Field Marshal. It’s been almost 2 weeks and even after 3 attempts to contact them, I haven’t heard or seen anything. Does anyone know if they’re having some communication issues or something else?

  • The thread below has mentioned some similar communication issues:

    Ya… you’ll never hear from them… they take your money… sit on it for awhile… make some investments… read a good book… go out and play with their kids… come back to work… then go “oh, I guess I should send this out to the customer…”

    Meanwhile, about a month has passed, and you’ve never heard from them…

    Bottom line, its been proven again and again and again… when it comes to FMG… they are legit, in that EVENTUALLY, you will get what you ordered… but they are neither fast about it, nor will they communicate with their customers.

    I ordered custom A&A Dice and an Ammo pouch… both were in-stock… took about a month after my money was accepted for me to see the product, and I never heard from them or got any status or shipping updates… but I did get what I ordered… this is pretty standard for dealing with FMG.

  • Thanks for the heads up. Time to get a refund.

    If it says it was in-stock at the time you ordered it, you should eventually get it… they are just not fast about it… if it wasn’t in-stock when you ordered, I don’t know what to tell you, because they have the worst customer service ever (if by “customer service”, you mean a company that flat-out doesn’t communicate with their customers).

    So if it was in-stock, I would just sit and wait… they should eventually deliver… just may be awhile, and don’t expect friendly e-mails with tracking numbers… just one day it will be on your doorstep.  If it wasn’t in-stock, not sure what to recommend, cuz I doubt they’ll talk to you.

    (I only ordered from them because the custom combat dice only come from them, and they are awesome… if I had a choice of getting the same dice elsewhere, I would have, but I didn’t… I won’t order from FMG again unless its something I just can’t get anywhere else).

    I hear you, but there are other sources I can get flight stands from. I don’t like to support companies that have this attitude towards their customers.

    FYI, The Field Marshal Gaming Convention I promote and attend each year is basically organized and managed by James Campbell and his pals from “I Will Never Grow Up” which is an excellent company. I will be talking to them this year about changing the name of the convention as it’s getting more and more difficult to promote something with a name that has become more or less toxic within this community.

    Sounds like a good idea.  I bought some of IWNGU’s nice casino-chip-style IPCs earlier this year, which arrived promptly in the mail, so I was quite happy with my order.  If the annual convention has indeed been mostly run by the IWNGU folks lately, it would make sense for them to actually get more visible credit for it.

    I’ve dealt with IWNGU (to get the A&A Poker Chip IPCs) and have had good experiences with them… takes a little bit of time to get things, but I think that’s because its going from the Canadian company to a US residence (I’m sure Canadians get things much quicker), but communication from the company is solid, they respond to inquiries and requests and provide tracking info on shipped orders, so I do endorse a Canadian company, even as an American!

    FMG on the other hand… I don’t think they do good business… though from what I’ve read, I’m not sure I’ve heard of anyone actually getting ripped off, just EXTREMELY SLOW service and completely non-existent customer service.  Not a good company to do business with… unfortunately, it seems they are the exclusive dealers of some things that are great for A&A (Combat Dice and Custom Italian Units off the top of my head).  I wish a more reliable company (like IWNGU) could stock the things FMG seems to have exclusively (like Combat Dice).

    Yep. I really wanted those Brass Flight stands, but I guess I could settle for plastic. Anyone know of any other options for A&A flight stands?

    Actually, some FMG products are available via HBG:

    As Wolfshanze said, it may arrive eventually… if you’re really interested in them, I would try and hold off on cancelling your order, I know someone who waited over a month for their dice, but they eventually showed up.

    Ya, I’m one of those guys that waited over a month for my combat dice to show up from FMG… I ordered an “in-stock” item… was charged immediately… waited, and waited and waited, with no contact or updates from the company, but did… EVENTUALLY… receive my dice… and I’m glad I got the dice… but I won’t order from FMG again unless I have no choice but them.

    I’m at work, so can’t check the links, but I am aware of them… for as long as I’ve known, HBG has always been “out of stock” on those items from FMG… maybe HBG is still waiting on their order to arrive?

    When I looked up the links, I was working quickly and I didn’t think of checking the inventory to see if they were out of stock; sorry about that.  My guess is that HBG’s FMG inventory pages date back to a few years, when HBG briefly had some sort of partnership with FMG to help out FMG when FMG ran into some production issues, as is mentioned over here:

    http://www.axisandallies.org/forums/index.php?topic=16786.3510

    As I recall, FMG was planning to produce a German set after the Italian one, but the project somehow never got completed, and HBG helped out FMG by basically purchasing all the FMG client pre-orders for the German set and converting them on a one-to-one basis into credits for HBG products, which the FMG pre-order clients could then use to purchase HBG products.  I imagine that HBG probably picked up some of FMG’s Italian and dice inventory at that time, and eventually sold it out, but I’m just speculating.

  • I can’t comment really on anything related to issues with FMG but;

    @Wolfshanze:

    I wish a more reliable company (like IWNGU) could stock the things FMG seems to have exclusively (like Combat Dice).

    Actually we do carry FMG products when available. We have combat dice in stock and can get our hands on most of the other products fairly quickly (the dice are the sellers, so that’s all we keep in stock at the moment, even though it’s in limited quantities).

    I already have my Combat Dice, so I’m happy, but to anybody else who wants/needs a set, I for-one, heartily recommend you order them from IWNGU instead of FMG.

    Been over a month since I made an order, haven’t gotten anything yet.
    As seems to be the norm for FMG, no status updates or replies.

    Their website has been down for well over a week now. Kinda worrying, ngl.
