The Allies raise their white flag.  Good game Yoshi and congrats on an undefeated season!

  • That was an impressive battle, going from a low odds to a good one after rd1, and coming back to a very low one two rounds later…

  • @Tyzoq:

The Allies raise their white flag.  Good game Yoshi and congrats on an undefeated season!

Thanks for the game, even if not a fair one.

The only real mistake I’ve been seeing was the us1 buy I already pointed out. It actually definitely convinced me to go for sz8, since I had a lot to win there (two full turns without any atlantic allies in Europa / Africa !)

Otherwise, dice have been too much on the axis side, and I’m not sure you had any chance then, specially since you were gambling a little early on (that I can understand, putting as much pressure as possible early on looks mandatory in a KGF).

  • Yeah I was very disappointed in UK1, I didn’t mind the sub hitting as long as I kill it only 8% chance of the sub surviving.  As long as I kill the sub I can place in sz2 and use the russian sub for defense.  I haven’t looked at it but I think placing in sz2 might have still been better because it would have been 2 subs vs 1 sub 1 AC.  I didn’t look at it close enough though.

The sub defense and subsequent Z8 dicing were killer

Good game, and great sports, both of you.  Congratulations on a successful year.

Yoshi, I want to tell you that I also was a bit skeptical of G40 for quite a while, and it took several games before I started to get the feel for it.  Now the moves don’t take me so long.  When I look back at your AA50 championship game, I’m not sure I could go back to playing AA50 because the G40 experience is so much richer and in many ways more realistic and engrossing.

I mean, Australia is 6 territories on the continent instead of 1 single territory.
You can’t shuck ground units from Canada to North Africa in a single move.  (Tyzoq’s transports were able to go clear across the Atlantic AND BACK in a single move!)
The Danish straits and the strait of Gibraltar restrictions are added.
The Dardanelles strait is closed (you exploited that to the max - I always thought AA50-41 should be played with the Dardanelles closed and then not much of a bid is needed - but the majority did not agree with me so here we are)
    Chinese play is greatly enhanced
SBR and intercepting is much better
You can take over true neutrals!

Anyway, I just wanted to tell you from experience that once you play several tedious, difficult, slow games, you will get much faster and you would love it.

Why am I trying to persuade you?  I don’t know.  But if you hadn’t noticed, interest (on this site anyway) in AA50 completely died around the beginning of the 2013 league season.

  • I played a couple of Global games with Func (OOB), and I agree that the game looks interesting.

Both these games were really long and really close. First one ended after 13 rounds ; the second one we gave up after 17 rounds where none of us had any clues of who would win, and decided of a draw.

And it really convinced me that two good players that do not go too risky could see something like that happen more than once…

I’ll play it again for sure, but dunno when, and I’m not interested for league games yet.

And I have still a couple of AA50 games to play (the final of the tournament and the world cup game against you)

Oh yeah, my first couple games of P40 were against Funcioneta and we also had very long games.

Well, if you jump into the G40 league sometime and just play a few random players, I am sure you will be winning in 1-5 rounds most of the time, because I am.

Congrats Yoshi.  Both times you contested the title, you won.  Great stuff!
