meh, i dont feel like playing this out. Ill concede. Sub 1% chance things to go horribly wrong so I suppose I will lose a game like this every now and then. Similar to France.

I don’t blame you. It is virtually impossible to come back from losing SZ96 like that. As you say just like France for the Germans. Play enough games and those silly 1% results eventually bite you. This is twice now I have seen this happen. Once in a face to face game too and my Opponent immediately conceded.

sorry to bud in, but are you sure about conceding this early? Andrew is new to BM3, so your experience advantage should help compensate. and losing gib isn’t the end of the world, tho it can be a challenge to get back, and maybe impossible against a really strong player (but then, that requires more dedication which takes away from the eastern front). also, luck may and usually does come back if you play out long enough. one more thing: sometimes the best/funnest games are the kind that do NOT go as expected early on, forcing you off the beaten path and into new and interesting territory.

yeah, part of it is I have nothing invested in the game at this point so I lose nothing by conceding. The second part is rage for rushing the turn after the disaster. For instance, I could have flown the pacific air to 81 but just wasnt thinking straight at the time.
I also hate relying or playing with the desire for luck…

I’d say this is a medium setback. You can lose 50 IPCs and come back. You can even lose 100 IPCs and come back. There are at least two possible 21 IPC swings on the first turn (sub attacks destroyer and transport - SZ 106 and SZ 62)
UK also did well on the attack on the German battleship (zero losses).
And having an airbase in Egypt is pretty useful.

@ksmckay Curious - how many IPC do you count the loss as? I see you losing two planes (21 loss) instead of an expected loss of perhaps 3/4 of a plane (7-8 IPCs) – for a loss of 14 IPCs. You gaining 2/3 of a plane on the UK battleship fight (7 IPC gain).
Your opponent gaining a destroyer and a transport (15 IPC gain). For a total loss to you of 22 IPCs.
Maybe an additional 5-10 IPC loss for the placement of the airbase.

Oops you did lose a fighter on the battleship fight. So that is another +3 vs odds and you did lose a destroyer on the fight vs the subs. But still I’d say a loss of around 36 IPCs.
