    One thing to know too is that if you end up building extra, the game allows you to hold over the extra unit until the next turn. But I’m fine with the change.

    Was just reading in the rules that you actually aren’t supposed to buy more units than you can build in a turn. So I was wrong. But triple a does allow for it and I can’t imagine it usually being an issue.

    Yeah. The more I play, the more I am convinced that the bid is necessary. I do think that effective allied strategy is less clear than axis, but I’m also convinced that either a bid or BM mode are needed to balance the game (although the latter probably favours the allies)

    I’m moving later today and will be travelling for the next couple of days.  Posts will be more sporadic than normal (unless the plane has wifi).

    I am still fairly new to G40 and probably not knowing well enough on how far Allies can go without Bid.  (And you seem to do really well with Allies!)  How many bids are you thinking of for Allies to be a fair game?

    Not sure. I’m losing badly in a game against one of the top players in the league and I had a bid of 30. Before him, I was doing well with bids of 12-20. I also saw that in a game that he is playing with another top player, he had a bid of 45. For most opponents, probably a bid of 20 is pretty good and for lots of opponents, you probably wouldn’t need any.

    The bid (which is usually done with one unit max per territory where you already have a unit) adds some variation to the early game as well which can make it more interesting.
