Hmmm… my understanding (and tripple a’s understanding) is just that I have to have 8 at the end of a round. But I just looked at the rules and it says “for a round”… so, I will check the FAQ.

Ok, after looking into this I think you may be right and Tripple A is wrong. Tripple A declares victory at the end of the round if you hold 8, while the rules say hold for a complete round. So I got the 8 on Germany, but you took back france on US, which I then took back on Italy, so the condition would only work if I held the 8 until Italy’s next turn…. sigh…
I put in a message to the league to make sure this right.
If so, I have a request: could I redo Italy?
If I knew the rule was I had to hold 8 continuously instead of just to the end of the round, it would make no sense to take France with Italy and forgo Germany getting France’s money.

If you allow an Italy redo, we could then just keep playing. If my original interpretation/tripple a’s interpretation is right (and I don’t think it is) then I would win anyway.
But if the rule says what I think it says, then you taking France has reset the condition and we need to keep going.

Yea, I’m fine with an Italy redo. It’s one thing to completely miss obvious options on the board (as I did not factoring in the Italian forces in W Germany), and it’s another to be confused by an admittedly confusing rule.

Take your time. I took almost a full day running over my strategy for the USA the other day. At this stage in the game, any mistake will cost us.
Like, I’m genuinely concerned that forgetting to move those Brit and French infantry from Gib to Spain a few rounds ago may be what does me in.
