    @SS:

Grasshopper , I mean`t they were talking off topic.

I don’t get upset about that stuff… whatever people want to talk about is fine.

  • I’m cool about it. You do learn about somethings when it gets a little sidetracked.

    @toblerone77:

The design was fine on the sculpts that’s what I did like. It was the quality of the molding. I still have my AAR and when I compare the quality of AAP01 and AAE99 I noticed a big difference.

I wish I would have got the edition with the green British units though. The AAP01 red Japanese units are really nice too.

Are the first Europe and Pacific games worth going back and getting? I admittedly got out of the hobby until fairly recently, so I have the Global 40 SE games (and 1914), but I wasn’t sure if there were any of the editions between Revised and G40 that are must haves. They largely just looked iterative of Revised until G40 came out.

The first AAP/AAE are nice but expensive now. I bought them when they came out. I have all the games except AAGC and AAE40 first editon. Never played Bulge or D-Day but I own them as a collector.

AA42SE I think is a must have. Global is awesome but getting a f2f game in can be difficult. I would say Spring 1942.1ed is a must but the price has gone up. I picked up an extra copy on Amazon when they were goindg for $25 bucks. I even bought another copy for my brother for Christmas when they were still cheap.

Sorry to keep this sidebar going. Feel free to ask us to move this to a different thread.

Is there any difference between 1942SE and Revised? I feel like if I wanted to play on that scale, I would pull out Revised.

Ossel I sent you a PM. If you need anymore info I can probaly answer them off memory, with links, or when I get back into town I can look at the actual games for any examples or answers. I’m away from my home right now so I don’t have any of my games with me.

SS I like the calendar idea quite a bit. I also like the tokens too. I think either are good ideas because the time in A&A is rather abstract.

I also kind of like the idea of implementing the severity of the winter. Like rolling a die to see what units may be immobilized.  A roll of one might stop infantry. A roll of two stops anything on ground attack. A roll 3 stops aircraft. 4 is a reduction in attack power -1. 5 restricts air attack only. 6 allows regular combat conditions.

This is just an idea I’m sure it could be refined but I thought about this just brainstorming a little bit.

:-D SS…should I take it like a compliment for me too?

  • Yes, you do get all credit. Just makin suggestions using your calander.

  • We make a good team!

  • @SS:

    This is in our game.

    Turn 1   Fall/Winter  39-40
    Turn 2   Spring/Summer  40
    Turn 3   Fall  40                        Rasputitsa
    Turn 4   Winter  40-41             Winter
    Turn 5   Spring  41
    Turn 6   Summer  41                Monsoon
    Turn 7   Fall  41                        Rasputitsa
    Turn 8   Winter  41-42             Winter
    Turn 9   Spring  42
    Turn 10 Summer  42                Monsoon
    Turn 11 Fall  42                        Rasputitsa
    Turn 12 Winter  42-43             Winter
    Turn 13 Spring  43
    Turn 14 Summer  43                Monsoon
    Turn 15 Fall  43                        Rasputitsa
    Turn 16 Winter  43-44             Winter
Turn 17 Spring  44           Nothing after turn 16

Winter: You can declare 2 winters during the game, but it has to match the winter season on above chart. The Russian winter is effective only on USSR territories. As a defender, USSR infrantry and artillery defend at 3 or less in first round of combat. As attacker, USSR infrantry attack at 2 or less.

Rasputitsa: During the fall using above chart, the USSR player can declare it rasputitsa during the non combat move phase of your enemy and roll 1 dice. If you get a 3 or less, your enemy won’t be able to make any ground non combat moves. Only effective on USSR territories.

Monsoon: During the summer using above chart you roll1 dice and if you get 3 or less, you cannot move ground troops in Yunnan,Burma, India, and Indochina.

Hitler should of just attacked in the spring. LOL

  • amanntai,  Check this out and you may have to shorten the years to fit your game.****

amanntai,   Check this out and you may have to shorten the years to fit your game.

Thanks. I’d seen National advantages with Rasputista for Russians, but I wanted something that had a global effect, since weather didn’t effect just the Russians.****

  • Well it’s easy to apply. Winter season can be add to countries like Canada, scandinavian countries, hollande, belgium, baltic countries and others. Also no amphibious assaut are not permitted over 45 parallel.

  • You could also add rough seas for the oceans and no flying do to bad weather.
You could also just make up a chart with all your weather events or make a chart for each country with certain events and then roll a die at the start of each turn.

You could try to see if you can find some info on the weather during the war. Then make a chart for each country using the years of war.

    US
    Turn 1     Good Weather
    Turn 2     Good Weather
Turn 3     Rough Seas in the Pacific -  ships can only move 1 space.
    Turn 4     Good Weather
Turn 5     Bad Weather on Europe side -  All planes -1 on combat or non combat ( or both ) movement or cannot fly at all.

Something like that. Just a suggestion.

    Hi Crus  :-D

  • Hi SS….good idea about US and weather.

  • The rule: Russian Infantry attack at 2 and défend at 3 during the first round of combat his too much strong. Russian is almost invincible. I changed it in our house rules. Germany Infantry Will attack at 1. It’s more fair.
