moving forward…if I play any 41 games I will be playing as the allies. I am sicking of beating everyone up as the axis! It is time for the allies to take a strong stand, with a 12 bid! :-D

Should we consider outlawing the Russian Bomber bid?
Not sure if anyone has even played it here, but it doesn’t seem like a “fun” game. Its not a great odds attack. I think 45% to hit the DD and survive, but if Russia losses the the bom vs. dd battle or both hit (leaving the trns) its probably over for the Allies as that is essentially a no bid game. And I’d hate to see people using that bid then losing the battle and then surrendering right away. Seems sort of cheap.
But if we officially outlaw it, maybe we see some bids around 12 or more?
I know I don’t really care to play a game giving 12 if it is just for a bomber, but might under other circumstances.

My opinion is that you don’t need to outlaw a Russian bomber bid. I have been involved in many games with bid of 12 or more, and no one ever elects a Russian bomber and I’m sure everyone knows about the Z51 attack possibility. I also don’t think the Axis are dead if the Russian bomber succeeds and the Japs lose 2 transports and a destroyer. Remember, there would be nothing in Egypt or the Atlantic or Russia’s western front.

That’s exactly what I was thinking and I haven’t seen it here but as 12+ bids possibly become more common I was just wondering if people would try it. And I wasn’t thinking more about the success but about the failure and then having people quit before round 1 is over.
I think we have a good group of AA50 players so you’re right we are probably okay. Maybe just something I’ll keep my eye on.
