Sorry to hear you lost! But yes it is looking pretty good for you right now.

14 VC is one less than the 15 listed in the rules. So either side needs to hold 14 VC at the end of the american turn to be declared winner. 15 is just too much and makes the game go on forever. It is an official change I will push for for next season.
