15L Playoff Rd2: [4] JDOW (Axis) vs. [8] Gamerman01 (Allies +25)

Finally a dice cooler for Japan. I guess it was time.

  • Definitely time
Now you’ve got my hopes up - was it a shade below average?  :-) Let’s see…

  • Yeah, you owe me a lot more than that
46 and Celebes went perfect and Brits only hit 1/4 after you destroyed them in a single round
It just shows how hot your dice have been that this is considered cooler  :-)

  • '15 '14

I always react shocked when AA hits 2/3.
Plus the Kansu guy surviving was quite bad.

So happy resurrection of the Chinese. May their comeback last very short:D

  • Should have took in more!

  • Site was down when I was trying to post USA
    Rolling dice for UK now

  • Late edit of USA fighter from 110 to London - I gained nothing from leaving it out on the carrier, didn’t think it through during USA noncom I guess

That’s 4 turns with slightly above average luck, but those round 8 hits still hurt

  • '15 '14

No problem about the edit and fair enough with the dice.

Sorry for the delay, I have been out of town recently and busy evenings. I guess I can move tomorrow.

  • OK, thanks
ANZAC has been ready to go since the UK turn posted - all their units are pretty much spoken for so it will be real quick and easy and you can follow with Germany

Ii am afraid I need to request a timeout till Tuesday. I am out of town Friday - Sunday.

The position is super competitive and I had a look yesterday but couldn’t finish because I came to the conclusion I would need to try to simulate how the map could look like after J10 to decicde whether to take a shot at the 30% can opener with the German bomber or not.

Unfortunately the next evening with enough time will be Tuesday. Tonight I have just a small slot I will use to give RegularKid the chance to make his US/Chi/UK move over the weekend and move the way easier J6. I won’t be able to do the necessary simulations to J10 in our game tonight.

Sorry for the delay. You postponed your nerqueen game and now I am delaying the game.
However the tension is high. Any glitch could be decisive.
I am confident I can speed up next week again.

    Cheers,
    Tobias

JDOW’s nightmare - what if it’s already decided?

  • It’s not

  • @JDOW:

I came to the conclusion I would need to try to simulate how the map could look like after J10 to decicde whether to take a shot at the 30% can opener with the German bomber or not.

I think you’ll conclude that’s a bad idea.  Even if it works, I only have one transport in 54, 3 planes, couple carriers…. you have few cheap casualties and whatever fleet and air you send will be badly out of position, giving India lots of extra time
And most likely you will be down one very strategic German bomber
If you could actually invade Queensland, that might be another matter, but you can’t.

For awhile I thought you meant the 30% on Burma - also a bad idea

  • '15 '14

    Thanks for sharing!
All I can say is that I agree about Burma but don’t really agree about 54.

To me smashing 54 would be a big deal (not decisive but very nice) that exceeds disadvantage of being OOP or so. You obv. don’t want to invite that attack in general, otherwise you wouldn’t have put 2 DDs to block them off.
Also, if I would protect Caroline I would be in range to a harbour from 54 which is one of the main arguments to me to make that attack playable.

I of course know where you coming from which is, that 30% is not enough to risk losing the can opener.
However, imo a bomber is a lot but on the other hand just one piece of ~650 on the board. :)

In a nutshell to me attacking the 2 DDs is a reasonable risk the Axis can take.

Take it as a compliment :) After 5 turns I thought I could convert my (imo good position back then) safely into an economic edge. You demonstrated why you are back to back champion and showed me how to prevent that in a manner I have not experience so far from any opponent.

Now we have a fierce battle which might take for a long time which is on unknown ground to me. I genuinely think Axis can still make it but in case I am wrong I don’t want to miss a 30% shot which I am convinced makes a difference and is NOT a pyrrhus victory. Let’s see :)

As a true nerd I btw might manage to move tonight while being out of town:)

    Talk later!
So I can hopefully slow the game less down than announced.

This game is awesome.  Gamer, you are living my dream right now…  :-P

  • @JDOW:

You obv. don’t want to invite that attack in general, otherwise you wouldn’t have put 2 DDs to block them off.

No, this way when you attack you are more likely to lose your bomber and get nothing
Sure, when I made the block I didn’t want you to attack, but now that you tell me you’re thinking about it then I look at it a lot more closely
