    @Uncrustable:

Revised had a nice set of national advantages for each nation.
Russian winter was one of them. (I believe all Russian infantry defended on a 3 for an entire round)

I always loved playing with these NAs.

How about I had to go back and look at the PDF manual for Revised; I never realized these were part of the game! Man, was I missing out!

It’s a pretty expensive game now but once in a while you can find it cheap. You really only need the board and the manual. Most of the paper stuff you can find here on various threads.

I liked the game itself but hated a lot of the components in that game. It has a really cheap feel but the game is fun. The board some people didn’t care for but I actually like the art quite a bit.

Good game especially if you use the new components from the newer editions.

Perhaps someone can scan the board, enlarge it, and offer the file in the customizations forum.

Revised came with paper money, aircraft range markers and marshaling cards…
Think the only game since to come with extras like that was 50th.

Yeah that stuff was nice. I just didn’t care for the quality of the sculpts very much. The roundels were really thin and flimsy. All-in-all it’s a great game. AA50 has really nice “extras” too.

As for paper money I have some stacks never even opened. I started using poker chips long ago. I bought some really nice ones at Wal-Mart a couple of years ago and have a ton of cheapy plastic ones. The Wal-Mart ones were cheap but casino styled, about $15.00. Pretty nice for the price.

    Oh, I had it. :-D

It was really the first one I owned; had played classic with friends but never bought it. Have to say I disagree with you on the components thing; loved the unique sculpts, marshalling cards, aircraft movement markers, etc. Still use the paper IPC’s in the games I run now.

Just never played with the NA’s, which was surprising to me.

The design was fine on the sculpts that’s what I did like. It was the quality of the molding. I still have my AAR and when I compare the quality of AAP01 and AAE99 I noticed a big difference.

I wish I would have got the edition with the green British units though. The AAP01 red Japanese units are really nice too.

Are the first Europe and Pacific games worth going back and getting? I admittedly got out of the hobby until fairly recently, so I have the Global 40 SE games (and 1914), but I wasn’t sure if there were any of the editions between Revised and G40 that are must haves. They largely just looked iterative of Revised until G40 came out.

    Russian winter talk?

It’s a fun rule in our games.

  • Grasshopper , I mean`t they were talking off topic.

I don’t get upset about that stuff… whatever people want to talk about is fine.

  • I’m cool about it. You do learn about somethings when it gets a little sidetracked.

The first AAP/AAE are nice but expensive now. I bought them when they came out. I have all the games except AAGC and AAE40 first editon. Never played Bulge or D-Day but I own them as a collector.

AA42SE I think is a must have. Global is awesome but getting a f2f game in can be difficult. I would say Spring 1942.1ed is a must but the price has gone up. I picked up an extra copy on Amazon when they were goindg for $25 bucks. I even bought another copy for my brother for Christmas when they were still cheap.

Sorry to keep this sidebar going. Feel free to ask us to move this to a different thread.

Is there any difference between 1942SE and Revised? I feel like if I wanted to play on that scale, I would pull out Revised.

Ossel I sent you a PM. If you need anymore info I can probaly answer them off memory, with links, or when I get back into town I can look at the actual games for any examples or answers. I’m away from my home right now so I don’t have any of my games with me.
