What a tough spot the group is in to begin the third season. After chopping off the leg of the only person cappable of delivering a baby safely, they also realized that they are trapped with 4-5 convicts, while the woman and child are left alone. You are watching this series, or you are in the 20% of the male population who are either to squeamish, or don’t have AMC.

  • I fully admit that I am too scared to watch that show.  Zombies scare the crap out of me so screw that.  I’ll stick to re-watching Lost.

Hopefully “the walking dead” has a much better series finale than “lost”.

I’m a big fan of TWD, the comics. So i tried to watch the show on TV and i hated it. When you like the books, the TV show is way to dull and too slow.

The show isn’t that bad to me but the Comic books are a million times more intresting and exciting. The TV show seems to keep forgetting that they have zombies in it and faff about with these stupid interpersonal relationships that don’t go anywhere. Also, way more people died in the comics

  • I think the show captures the tone of the comics very well. I don’t think, judging from the season premiere, that this season is going to be slow.

Great episode tonight, Rick really took care of those convicts… no more Mr.nice guy.

  • Walking Dead is probably my favorite show other than anything Gordon Ramsey.

The show does tend to spend too much time dealing with situations, probably because of costs of production.

(Random rant unrelated to previous comments)

I understand that there is a graphic novel series out there that this AMC series is based on, but I haven’t read them. Therefore my only impression from “the walking dead” comes from what I see on TV every Sunday night, and that’s pretty much true for everything that was first a book. I watch TV and movies, so when ever I hear “the book was better” I’m sure it was, but I don’t read books and therefore I don’t care if it was better. All I know is that the walking dead is some dam good TV, and it would be a shame if I were to feel disappointed about everything I watched, because I read the book first. That said, I’m just as intrigued by the character buildups and subplots from all the relationship situations, as I am about the gore and terror of the environment that surrounds them. Hell…. even a good porn has to have a pizza delivery guy, and a surprised house wife coming out of the shower. If the characters in the walking dead seemed phoney, we would be begging for a good story to go with the great zombie effects.

I was surprised it took him so long.

  • I’ve been reading the comics for about 5 years, I’d say.  I always buy the volumes as soon as they come out.  The show was pretty similar at first, but diverged.  Partly I think due to necessity to condense the plot, but also for some TV gimmicks for ratings.  I don’t like it as much as the print.

That being said, I still enjoy it.  It’s a fairly good representation of the comics.  Certain things I haven’t liked about it, but I don’t complain too much.

The only other thing I think will be an issue possibly is the series catching up to the comics and having to make its own ending.  Many people don’t like it, although I find it interesting.  Some of my favorite shows have done that (2 mangas I can think of - Gantz and Full Metal Alchemist), and I like seeing the interpretation as an alternate ending.

Pretty sure one of my other favorite shows - Game of Thrones - will run into the same problem, but I’ve heard they’ve been told the ending to come in the next 2 books already to make the series compatible.

It’s fairly tame when it comes to the zombies as far as “surprises”.  It’s pretty graphic, but I don’t find it scary.
