      WHO SUMMONS ME FROM MY SLUMBER!!! šŸ˜†

      but seriously, who’s resurrecting long dead threads?

      I don’t think I’ve played a proper game of this in… well about 9 years sadly, and it really is such a shame because it was one of my most favorite.

      I do appreciate the response but do try to understand that I think the way the game was when it first came out was very different for it’s current incarnation. I’m pretty we were still playing OOB when this thread was made. I’ve never played second edition to be honest and I have heard that they’ve made some considerable changes to help balance, though I never had much issue playing OOB back in the day.

      Thank you for the response all the same, and dragging me back to ā€œthe pitā€ šŸ˜‰

      @ABWorsham:

      Greece would join France to fight the Turks.

      Is that really an advantage or a liability?

    • RE: Any new rules? any big changes to how the game is played?

      I’m wondering how the victory conditions will work in this game. The Great War wasn’t like WW2 with capitals falling to enemies advances. Hell, Germany taking Pairs should be a major event in this game, not turn one necessity. As far as I can tell there were only like 3 enemy capitals that ever actually ever taking, Belgrade, Brussels, and I think Bucharest. Is this game going to have a mechanic to represent war weariness, or the blockade, or some other way of taking down the Central Powers that doesn’t involve storming into Berlin and Vienna?

      P.E. (post-edit)
      I did forget one, Podgorica was also occupied.

    • RE: Napoleon in Europe by Eagle Games FAQ

      I recently required this game after long time and I’m wondering if there is anyone here who could answer some questions with regards to the rules, things not overly complex but not clearly stated in the rules and not covered in this FAQ?

      Your opponents logic is extremely flawed. In a throw of the dice his Artillery is just as likely to have rolled the 8 as it is the 3. If you were to allow a roll of 4 dice, but singled out the artillery die with a separate color, you would see that regardless of its to hit value it can just as easily roll something undesirable, like an 8 or 9, as it could roll a hit.

      The best solution would have been to consider the roll of 4 dice all misses for his infantry, and then have him roll for his artillery again.

      That’s funny because in my games, Russia usually gets bogged down trying to keep the Austrians held up in Romania, most of their man power reserves go there and Poland. I find that Germany can usually play for time with Russia in this instance, as she can send just enough troops to Poland to force the Russians to split their forces between there and Romania and the galician front to prevent them from becoming too much of a threat.

      The British I find have it pretty had as well as they need to split their income between keeping France alive and fighting the Turks. I’ve done the UK1 move of invading through Persia twice and it actually works pretty well. However with the advent of the tournament rules that allow land units to move 2 though friendly tt’s allows the Turks to build a credible defense, so that will need to be overcome

      @MistuhJay:

      I think standard play is smashing Russia first, then working on Paris after that.Ā  What is your overall strategy as the Axis?

      In most games the Germans focus on the French while sending just enough to keep Poland contested, usually with Austrian help. The real problem for the allies is keeping the Germans from massing a massive stack of artillery with air superiority in Picardy by turn four. I usually wind up with between 15 to 20 arty concentrated on the western front and it just becomes a matter of keeping enough troops to take casualties long enough to wear the French down.

      Am I really playing against people who are so incompetent that I’ve managed a win twice as the Centrals?

      This second play through with L-H tournament rules and political collapse (we don’t use the economic one) made it even more of a resounding success. What are the allies doing so wrong in my games that causes them to lose.

      @wittmann:

      Yes. It makes naval movement or naval attacks in mined SZ potentially very costly.
      Subs are not the good buy they are in most A&A games.

      Crud, oh well it was worth a shot

      @wittmann:

      Evening Clyde. Every enemy ship had to roll for mines, even Subs.

      Does this include when they are moving through unoccupied sea zones?

      example: I want to move the two German subs from sz 7 to 9, in the process they will pass through sz8. Does this mean that I will have to roll twice for mines for these subs, once for sz8 and then again to sz9?

      Are you required to roll for mined sea zones when submarines move into or through them?
