    I noticed that rolls happened yesterday but I haven’t seen a post yet. Its fine if you need some time to think through options but I just wanted to make sure you hadn’t forgotten to post.

    The rolls that happened yesterday were not supposed to be posted. It was the second of a series of trials that I did, after I saved the game to my computer and thought I was posting to a thread that I have in the non-league forum (OwenToo vs RVH - #42008) where I put games that I want to study. RVH is me, and it merely uses a different email address of mine. The first trial I did right, and your email was not sent any die rolls. I thought subsequent trials would be the same, but when I loaded the game for a second run, I forgot to purge your email, and it sent die rolls to your email. I should have been careful to switch to “internal dice roller” for each trial.

    I am now chagrined, as I don’t know what is best to do.  I believe I will need to concede the game, as I have no way of proving that the rolls you have in your email are not legitimate or intended to be a part of my move. I think you have played an excellent game, and I don’t really want to stop at this point. Perhaps you will agree to continue, knowing that I have agreed to concede no matter what the outcome of this or subsequent turns.

    I think we can keep it going, no need to concede, and we can redo that turn, with perhaps one significant restriction.

    I am a little uncomfortable with the idea of a re-roll on that battle since it is so key to the game.

    My thinking in that setup was that

    1. given the odds (which I counted as almost 60-40 in my favour) and how decisive a defeat would be for you, I thought that there was a good chance you wouldn’t go for it. This gives me good position but Moscow is not yet at risk.
    2. If you did go for it, there was a good chance I would win the battle and that would likely mean the game.
    3. If you did win, there was a good chance that I would be able to successfully counterattack the survivors. We’d have a bit of a stalemate but I thought I would be in the better position out of that still.
    4. I thought there was an outside chance that you would attack, get the right dice, and win handily, such that I couldn’t counter. While this wouldn’t be as decisive for you as a win would be for me, it would certainly be game changing and put the European axis on the defensive.

    And I would hate to allow a redo that gives up the best result for the worst result. If your thinking now is that you won’t go for it, then I feel very comfortable with just a redo of the turn. But if winning that battle is key to your plans, and you get tremendously good dice relative to me in the next try, than I might want to revisit this further (at least agree that it would no longer count for league play.)

    That is what I am thinking now anyway, but we can discuss this more too if you don’t think that is fair.

    My intent with the battle was to withdraw to Moscow when you were down to just a few armor. Obviously, I would have to be in the 40% win spectrum for that to happen, but Ted Williams was a .400 hitter, so I liked the odds.

    The first time I rolled, which you did not see the results of, all my air survived the AAA, and I got a great first roll on your units. After 4 rounds of combat, I withdrew with about 12 units remaining, leaving you with 3 tanks. It looked pretty good for the Russians.

    I tried 3 more times, and was sloppy with my 2nd attempt and the rolls got posted to your email. Each of the last 3 tests, AAA shot down at least one of my air, and subsequent rolls didn’t go well for the Russians.

    Seeing your position on the board, and your good play in the Med preventing the Americans from having any kind of effect on Fortress Europa, I was pondering the 40% chance of equalizing the game. If I did well, I would withdraw from Bryansk, thus preventing your counterattack.

    The chances of all my 3 air units surviving the AAA is 5 cubed divided by 6 cubed or 125/216 or 58%. If they DO survive, then the odds of the battle are bumped up to 50%.

    I was leaning towards trying the battle, but had not yet decided, when I saw that my test, and the bad test at that, was posted.

    I think your offer is fair, but my problem is I don’t think I can win if I turtle into Moscow. Let me think on it.
