Thanks for clarifying.
Todo-List for TripleA Global 1940 2nd edition
-
These are the things that need to be modified as we know so far:
~~- change US setup: US now starts with major ICs instead of minor ICs
- the trigger “US enters to war” -> minor ICs become major ICs is obsolete~~
(Deleted - this was for Europe only.
In 2nd Edition global it is like it was in the latest Alpha)
…to be continued…
- the trigger “US enters to war” -> minor ICs become major ICs is obsolete~~
-
Starting Income in Global 2nd Ed. is the same as in latest Alpha.
The Global setup is the same except Egypt: - remove 1 British Infantry
Now we are waiting for politics and NOs.
-
A (small) change on the Pacific side of the map:
- merge “British Columbia” and “Yukon Territory” (both 1st ed.) to “Western Canada” (2nd Ed.)
(Thanks to Bob_A_Mickelson for pointing that out: http://www.axisandallies.org/forums/index.php?topic=28467.msg1011393#msg1011393 )

am i the only other person who is going WTF with these changes?
i can do them, and relatively easily, but seriously, WTF is larry/hasbro thinking?
-
I’m not sure if the Egypt -1 UK Inf was intended. I asked that on Larry’s site. I am waiting for an answer.
I think the “Western Canada”-thing is just a question of simplification. As “Yukon Territory” in the 1st edition probably never was used.
And I think that the Second Edition was never intended to be more than a reprint including the latest Alpha rules.
-
actually i thought yukon was a brilliant addition, at least for a pacific only game (ie: just pacific board)
what it means is that usa and japan can play a lot of tricks on each other if they ever decide to attack each other around alaska/canada
-
I’m with you on the importance of the Yukon Territory V!
-
We have not more information about changes in politics up to now, but at least this one, concerning the Soviet/Japanese Non Aggression Pact:
“If the Soviet Union attacks Korea or any Japanese controlled territory bordering Mongolia, then Mongolia will never join Soviet Union.”
We should of course wait for further information on this…
-
The NOs did not change.
China is not allowed to roll for tech.
-
It has been confirmed that the -1 UK Inf in Egypt was intended and is no mistake!
-
So to sum it up we have now:
-
remove 1 UK Inf from Egypt
-
merge “British Columbia” and “Yukon Territory” to “Western Canada”
-
don’t allow China to roll for tech (were they ever allowed?)
-
include the territory of Korea so that “If the Soviet Union attacks Korea or any Japanese controlled territory bordering Mongolia, then Mongolia will never join Soviet Union.”
-
-
I say leave Yukon in.
For what it’s worth… if any -copywright- infringements appear, you can point out the gameboard is “entirely” different.

No one reported anything else so far.
Is this really all? -
-
Yep that’s it.
-
these changes are silly
i’ll do them
but they are silly, not needed, and in my humble opinion make the game worse than it currently is
-
I have no idea why you’d even consider making the game worse. The game was better before. Adding these changes just so you can have a copy of a broken game doesn’t really make any sense.
-
well i wouldn’t call it broken, the changes are “slightly bad”.
and besides, Allies have to bid as it is, so these changes just make the big go up by 3-6 more
-
Bids = broken. Only bids that are meant to reflect disparities in player experience are not indicative of some design flaw.
So saying the changes increased the bid… is saying the changes were bad for the game instead of improving it. IMO.
-
I think that the tripleA map should reflect the game as it is intended to be.
Most aspects can be edited, anyway, so it is up to the players to edit their house rules. -
This is a fiddly point, but it came up in a recent game. In the new 1940 Second Edition rules, the mongolia treaty is broken if Russia attacks Manchuria OR KOREA before Japan attacks one of tho Soviet territories bordering Mongolia. In the game in question, Russia took Korea, then japan took Amur and the Mongolian territories activated and turned red. According to the new rules they should stay neutral forever.
