your bombing success on me is unreal…you bomb me with 1, 2, or even 5 planes, and it doesn’t seem to matter, as I keep missing everything. it’s so hard to be successful in this game when the aa guns just don’t work. you’ve had similar success in the first game.
in fact, i’ve noticed my aa guns haven’t been working well for quite a few games now…the game i just completed with shin ji, he was raiding me (germany) like you wouldn’t believe…every one of my many factories were ablaze. turn after turn of bombing and did i get a single hit?

I have argued for a long time that defending fighters in dogfights should hit @2 so that deterring SBR is a feasible option.

even two more hits would be a big help. aa/interceptor fire in this game is so important imo and so i agree with you that defending at 2 would be a much desired improvement to the rules, and it seems logical to me, or at least not allow the strategic bombers to also fire in a dogfight…is that even historical? were large bombers able to maneuver and battle in the skies vs fighters?

Also strange that tactical bombers can dogfight on offense but not on defense.
I think WW2 strategic bombers didn’t perform well against intercepting fighters until long-range fighters were developed for escort.

yes, as the rules stand, among other problems, i simply cannot rely on allied air and naval bases, even with lots of interceptors…another example of my poor luck in this area, i recently lost a perfectly good game vs JWW when he was able to disable my russian air base in iraq with only 1 japanese fighter and 1 tac bomber to my 7 defending fighters! it was a sea lion game, and i had needed to fly my 6 american fighters to protect moscow…

Good idea, but I’m wondering, is there a thread going on for updating the next edition of G40, like how they had the alpha 3 project going on for a while in coming up with 2nd Ed? I imagine somewhere there must be an official discussion going on for a 3rd ed.

You are asking this in the wrong thread mate :P. I honestly have no idea, but I am pretty sure kriegshund will know the answer to that question. Even so. The house league version would probably still be different then a possible 3rd edition. So make any suggestion you may or may not have there as well.
