  • nah that’s how the dice rolls, just never seems to get averages for me.  I actually wanted you to go for uk, since its generally costly… well except when you can take it under average losses as you did.  that will probably be the game.  my ‘gamble’ was basically a 50/50 you’d suffer enough losses(even if you take it) that you can’t recover, and of course I still had a 20% chance to win outright.  the risk rewards aren’t worth it imho and I view sl as generally a trap.

    Interesting game to follow. I have to admit I was VERY surprised be the judgment that Allies forced Axis into sea lion (considering 1 fig 6 Inf buy and 3 figs total in UK after UK1.) And I am also surprised that Allied Head quarter is so pessimistic after that battle which ended in average AA fire and Germans losing 18 ground units.

    I had a similar sea lion against another tier 1 player (took London with few tanks remaining) and I still won.

    I think I would prefer the Allies in that position (haven’t studied the Pacific map though).

    Good luck to both players from here. Interesting to see a sea lion game from 2 very strong players with a result which is (imo) not decisive yet:D

    Btw: I understand of course the Allied’ frustration as that game could already be over now, however I think also the over average result leaves Allies in a strong position (59 IPC Russia yay^^)


  • “average” losses would have been all but a tank, and 5 air lost, so that battle was a +4, or 3 extra air.  standard deviation could have been easily 7-8 air lost.  with little air, it makes a big difference but it’s going to be tough now with basically all its air intact.  I’ve lost so many games on 75-95% major battle game breakers i figured it was worth it to take a gamble on the other side on an important, but not necessarily game breaking battle.
