That’s a punishing roll, and I think I was prepared for bad luck…

Taking another look at it, I see now the casualty choice is obvious

You take surprise strike sub hits to the two battleships and 1 sub.  So the other 12 hits are applied to 11 subs and 1 carrier.  You can swap the carrier for a cruiser or fighter later if need be
