We could by 11 inf + 1 mech. Put the mech in Volgograd and let it run to Africa.
-
@surfer will make some changes.

Japan s up
-
I was planning a J3 DoW but with the American fleet in SZ30 instead of Pearl Harbor, I decided it was a good opportunity to grab some territories while the Pacific fleet is out of position. USA is up now.
btw, I will be out of town from March 14th-30th and won’t be able to do my turns. Sorry about the long gap of action.
-
@crockett36 Leave the CA in SZ114 or it doesn’t block. Sure the Italians could strike, but that is a 50-50 affair, which potentially kills the more useful aircraft vs a nearly worthless CA.
-
No problem with the Russian cruiser edit. I agree with surfer that it is best to use that ship to potentially slow down the German advance. It will die soon anyway.

US buy: 3 CV + 1tran. 2CV for Pacific and 1 CV + transport for Atlantic
Reinforce SZ54 with fleet.
San Fran fleet to Hawaii. Keep ftrs for defenseThe only combat is the DD kills German sub (with ftr). Would consider bringing CA to defend against sb attack.
Bring sb to EUS for attacks against gibraltar? Could put in UK, but early in the game
The sb in Gibraltar is quite a tempting target, but if we attack with inf + tank + CA the battle is 50-50 (assuming the bomber is last to die…if not, then battle worth doing just to reduce the luftwaffe)
Typically, 50-50 battles are not the way to play the game, but like the German attack on SZ 106 T1 with 1 sub vs 1 DD, the payoff is worth the try–because there is no downside. The british fleet can reinforce SZ91 and so there will be no counter. The real downside is that we lose the US initiative in the Atlantic as we have no forces to bring in. Still need to activate Brazil, which we would with our 1 transport that we bought, but nothing else will happen. But if UK buy a transport (or 2) also this round to put in Canada, then we will have forces for next round to force our way back into the Med and W. Europe.

without looking at your comments, I did these moves. now i’ll read your stuff.

My t1 and t2 sacrifices in the Pac are:
for forcing an naval arms race with Japan
for defending Aus
for projecting power over the money islands, thus helping Calcutta. It pins a certain amount of navy to Malaya. But we need Gibraltar back. I want that bomber dead. I’ve got a bomber and a french fig as backup if it comes down to 1 v 1.
I’m open to your suggestions, but I think we need a bigger footprint in the Atlantic. -
I think my conception of the 54 fleet is that it is a check on Japanese aggression, but not a kill shot. I have been experimenting with throwing some of the ships into harms way with a small force of Anzac figs and subs to mop up.
-
Definitely an arms race in the Pacific which is not ideal as China is very strong this game. SZ 54 is plenty strong for the foreseeable future as I don’t want to have a fleet-for-fleet exchange in these early rounds.
about a 32% chance of winning Gibraltar if I take the bomber first. The British fleet cannot adequately reinforce SZ91 if the United States fails that battle as the German fighters can attack there from Rome. It would be a big setback for the Atlantic if the amphibious attack fails, but a big victory if the dice are in your favor. Worth the risk if you think you are not doing well this game, but not worth the gamble if you think you are still ahead from the big initial bid.
OOL for Gibraltar if you do order the attack: bomber first unless I have 3 units vs 1 allied unit, in which case take one infantry first followed by the bomber.

radical swing. put a blocker in 55. Is 54 strong enough to still deter?
-
@crockett36 unless you are completely abandoning support with the UK and ANZAC forces, there is no way I could attack that fleet in SZ54
-
That’s good news.
-
I will post us combat moves tonight if no objections
-
@crockett36 I’m on vacation for the week. Good luck.
-
I think I should pause until my compatriot gets back. I think US moves are done.
-
@crockett36 Perhaps you can do the China turn and propose the UK attack recommendations. If you need to adjust any non-combat moves for USA or China, it is no problem to adjust slightly out of turn order.
