  • @elrood I was thinking 3 tech dice for T. If “oder” means “or”, I still prefer T get the bid, not A. If T gets 2 ships at the start, it could destroy or chase the UK fleet out of the Med, like in our first game. So set some limit of 15 or 16 P.U. value.
    A starts with twice the income of T and has more and bigger factories to build more troops than T; and rarely needs to build ships, which are more expensive than troops.

T can build 2 tt’s and with bombardment, force Serbia to build more in Gre and less in Belgrade, or build in Belgrade and abandon Mace to guard Gre. Then, the tt by Cyprus makes it 3 tt’s on round 2. We saw how the rapid collapse of Serb greatly benefited Austria in our first game.

  • @fmerwinrommel The way you asked your Entente partners is really suggestive.

    “If we give Centrals extra units they can hurt us badly. Would you like that?” :p
    The point of giving sth to one side is to balance the game in the long run.

    In G40 giving +20 IPCs (or more) to Allies lets them wreck havoc on Italien Fleet and African Corps in Turn 1, but is no guarantee for a win.

    If we stay at the example of Serbia… their welfare is of even less consequence in NML 1914 than that of Italy in G40.


  • @elrood The game developers must have seen the problem I described when they gave T less income than production and Serb more income than production at the start. WWII games are offensive with planes and tanks, while 1914 is defensive with trenches and HG, to recreate the slow conquest/retreat of WWI rather than the blitz of WWII. But give A barrage and/or gas tech and superior build capacity and income, and it can overwhelm small neighbors before they research defensive land tech. The lose of Gre is of wider significance than the lose of Mecca. Perhaps give T an economy tech rather than ships.

    Just out of curiousity I checked the odds.

    Say Fre or Ser were successful in sinking the turk TT already on the map…
    If Turks have 2 additional TTs then Turks can land with 3 Inf, 1 Art in greece and bombard with 2 ships. If Serbs dont move to greece or build anything there, then the odds for that attack are about 30%. One more Inf in Greece reduces it to 10%.

    My point is. Losing greece is TOTALLY in Serbs hands, as they can freely move anything there to protect their capital. It was lost in our earlier instance of the game, because Serbs moved pretty much all out, despite failing to kill the turkish TT at Cyprus. It was still a 50% battle if I recall… 3 Serb inf against 1 Turk Art + Inf and 2 Bombardments. Turks got super lucky, yes. But Serbs simply overlooked that chance somehow.

    Even if I added 2 TTs which I would not do, since it can be countered by smart Entente play and when UK simply builds a few ships the TTs will have to go to Black Sea and will be nearly useless.

    So stop whining ya all! :-p
