@dawgoneit. It occurs to me that instead of using the default OOL for the SZ111 and SZ110 battles I should have asked you what you wanted your casualties to be. For the SZ111 battle it makes no difference. The default OOL kept the battleship and since I missed with the remaining sub and you rolled a 2 you would have hit with a destroyer or battleship either way so it is all good. The SZ110 battle is another matter. The default OOL left the one lone battleship as the surviving unit. You could have saved a fighter instead. Since both my subs missed on the second round attack the battleship was able to fire back just like a fighter would have been able to fire back and both would have scored a hit on the roll of 4. However if it had been a fighter, instead of a battleship, than the hit would have to have been taken on a German fighter instead of a German sub. Therefore I should have asked for OOL.
If you would like to edit off a fighter and put a sub back on the board please feel free to do so. Please take the fighter off of Germany if you so choose to do so.

@dawgoneit Actually I did not make any choices in the taking of casualties. I used the TripleA default which is why afterwards I thought better of it and realized I should have asked you instead. In my opinion the TripleA default is not always best depending on the circumstances.
If you want my opinion than here it is:
SZ111 battle. Three hits were scored; as the defender you do not know yet if you are going to get the two hits needed to take out the two German subs which would be a threat to your lone battleship. There is a 50% chance of getting at least two hits so only planes would survive for the Germans.
Thus the math says it is better to keep the battleship than the destroyer.
Keep Battleship: 55% chance to fire and hit
50% chance no subs survive to attack = 50% x 66.6% chance to hit (roll 1-4) = 33.3% chance to fire and hit
50% chance no subs survive to attack = 50% x 33.3% chance to miss (roll 5-6) = 16.6% chance to fire and miss
50% chance that one sub survives to attack your battleship and sinks the battleship = 50% x 33.3% = 16.6% chance no return fire
50% chance that one sub survives to attack your battleship and misses the battleship = 50% x 66.6% = 33.3% chance to fire back = 33% x 66% = 22% chance to fire and hit and 11% to fire and miss
Keep Destroyer:
Since the destroyer gets to fire back no matter what it is a 33% chance to get another hit. Thus keeping the battleship makes sense even though it could die at the hands of a sub but since the battleship fires at double the firepower of a destroyer yet only has a 33% increased risk of death it makes sense.
SZ110 battle. More ambiguous here. Six hits were scored which means only 1 unit survives as the Allies. The Allied fighters can only hit the German battleship and planes thus the only way to kill any surviving subs is for the battleship to survive. Keeping a fighter means only German planes can die for a future hit. As the defender you do not know how many hits you are going to get yet. If you roll well, like 4-5 hits or more, you may want the battleship alive to force the Germans to continue the attack and having one more chance of killing another plane. The Germans can’t leave the battleship alive to repair itself they must keep going. On the other hand maybe you do not care about killing subs or forcing the Germans to continue the attack and if you roll poorly it is going to be a slaughter anyway so you just want to kill planes if the Germans continue. Maybe you are going to do Taranto and want the subs dead so you do not have to use a plane to attack them. Maybe you are not so using the DD and planes to kill subs is easy so keep the fighter to try and kill more German planes. So no way to say for sure what would be best. However if was me I would have kept the fighter hoping to kill one more German plane.
Again if you want to trade a sub for a fighter I am good with that.
