Purchased airfields vs. "Regular" airfields

  • djensen stated in his rules review:

Aircraft that launch from a territory with an airbase gain 1 extra movement.

Can we assume that aircraft can still launch from territories or islands that have no purchased cardboard airbases?

Is that becz the purchased airfields are designed to be upgraded airfields with more infrastructure than the “regular” airfields that can be established anywhere we land an aircraft?

  • Aircraft can still land in all the usual places. If you put an airbase in the space it gives some bonus’ to the aircraft in that space.

  • Yes your just paying for the privilege of getting more movement, but the base can scramble fighters against the sea zone where the island is located if the enemy decided to move in this area. It also gets an AA roll against attacking planes that may try to attack the small island.

The airbases essentially make the island a CV as  planes first movement cost will be spent entering the next SZ.  The scramble ability probably replaces the CAP option from the original AAP

  • yea i think that too.

Bases’ built-in AA protection is only against SBRs on the bases themselves.  It does not apply to normal attacks against the territory.  You still need an AA gun for that.

Is the rolling system for AA guns changed at all?
