  • It is definitely easier for most people to win with the Axis, man, you’re totally right

    A lot of players prefer to tip USA to one theater or the other, but I like more balanced - not sure there’s a right or wrong answer there.

    Some like buying almost all infantry with Russia, but I like throwing in some arty, tanks, mech, and maybe even a bomber because it does a good job threatening Italian Med movements and can SBR…

    Try to keep the Germans not only from taking Moscow, but from going the South route.  At least try to slow it.  It’s hard usually.

    Don’t neglect “traditional” Normandy landings like Zhuk just did recently in this game.  Many players give up on the Atlantic as Allies and build too much with UK in Africa, I think…

    Personally I think Russia and China are the most important.  The other Allies should help them out.  If Russia and China are both held down, the Allies do not win.  The Allies have a good chance if EITHER Russia OR China is healthy.

    I meant Zhuk DID do a nice big Normandy landing and that that is pretty effective.  Just realized this could be read to mean that Zhuk NEGLECTED the landings, but I assume you are watching the game and know that he recently did a power landing on Normandy.  The French just arrived too……

    That leads to another tip.  Use USA transports in 110 to ferry UK infantry across fast.

    Let’s see… other tips… it often helps to get Italy down early, but don’t prioritize it TOO highly - that is, don’t kill the UK in the process.  The USA can always come along a little later and clean up Italy, although that might be harder if you’re facing a German air strategy.

    In general, the Allies need to ENGAGE the Axis and not be too afraid of negative value trades.  Because Germany and Japan are juggernauts that can focus and wipe out any individual ally, the other allies need to be pecking away at them.

    For example, you should seriously consider scrambling from the UK on G1.  You will probably lose 3 planes to 2 German ones, but that is a good trade because the German planes can be used against UK, USA, and, especially, Russia.  This is a good way for the UK to help Russia - better than trying to fly planes over to Moscow later.


  • Do you understand what bidding is?  Giving some extra money to the Allies to place extra units to start the game.  Zhukov for example started with 6 extra infantry that he placed on the board before G1.

    If the Allies are never winning, give them more to start with.  The consensus on this site seems to be that the Allies need between +15 to +22 or so to be competitive, but the Axis are still winning a bit more in our league play.
