Hey yah I was gonna let u know I’ve been really engaged in another very complex game and am trying to finish that one off before getting back to this one. I noticed you’ve picked up a few WaW games. How does it compare in your opinion? I looked at the map for the first time, and while the idea of an even bigger map seems appealing, it also seemed quite overwhelming, and the graphics unwieldy.

Graphics were fine for me after playing a few rounds. I guess you need to use the territory tab to scan territories occasionally to see what’s there.
I like the big map and all the extra units. The map feels even bigger because there are no air and naval bases to speed travel. I also like the additional powers and the fact that the Allies are much stronger in WaW than G40.
The scope of WaW (bigger map, more IPC, more units) makes it easier to recover from a bad battle than in G40.
Your first WaW game you’d want to be careful to make sure you didn’t forget units (especially British and Yamamoto). If possible I’d play the first turn on a desktop PC screen and not a laptop screen.
I haven’t played enough to judge whether it is truly balanced (especially since everyone playing is new to it and blunders are more common). But there are no complex rules like G40, so learning isn’t too hard.

Good info on comparing the two games, thank you. I may at some point try that one out. I must say, one of my favorite features of G40 is the naval/air base, which I think is brilliant. I think I’d miss that in WaW.
So overall, which game do you think is better? and do you foresee yourself retiring from G40 play in favor of committing more to WaW play?
Graphics were fine for me after playing a few rounds. I guess you need to use the territory tab to scan territories occasionally to see what’s there.
I like the big map and all the extra units. The map feels even bigger because there are no air and naval bases to speed travel. I also like the additional powers and the fact that the Allies are much stronger in WaW than G40.
The scope of WaW (bigger map, more IPC, more units) makes it easier to recover from a bad battle than in G40.
Your first WaW game you’d want to be careful to make sure you didn’t forget units (especially British and Yamamoto). If possible I’d play the first turn on a desktop PC screen and not a laptop screen.
I haven’t played enough to judge whether it is truly balanced (especially since everyone playing is new to it and blunders are more common). But there are no complex rules like G40, so learning isn’t too hard.

I probably won’t give up G40 any time soon. I am doing pretty poorly for the 2015 season though.
Right now, I’d say I’m having more fun with WaW though.
