Interesting game to follow. I have to admit I was VERY surprised be the judgment that Allies forced Axis into sea lion (considering 1 fig 6 Inf buy and 3 figs total in UK after UK1.) And I am also surprised that Allied Head quarter is so pessimistic after that battle which ended in average AA fire and Germans losing 18 ground units.
I had a similar sea lion against another tier 1 player (took London with few tanks remaining) and I still won.
I think I would prefer the Allies in that position (haven’t studied the Pacific map though).
Good luck to both players from here. Interesting to see a sea lion game from 2 very strong players with a result which is (imo) not decisive yet:D

Btw: I understand of course the Allied’ frustration as that game could already be over now, however I think also the over average result leaves Allies in a strong position (59 IPC Russia yay^^)

“average” losses would have been all but a tank, and 5 air lost, so that battle was a +4, or 3 extra air. standard deviation could have been easily 7-8 air lost. with little air, it makes a big difference but it’s going to be tough now with basically all its air intact. I’ve lost so many games on 75-95% major battle game breakers i figured it was worth it to take a gamble on the other side on an important, but not necessarily game breaking battle.

Well, my understanding of A&A is, that the sea lion decision was a ticket to hell for the Axis - although I guess ME1945 will certainly disagree^^.
So yes, the game could already be over but despite the over average result I’d prefer Allies in that position - and at least the AA did their job:D -

Sure, a successful SL doesn’t guarantee Axis a win. But I think a SL threat is understated in league and apparently disregarded by Allies in some games.

I think you got this, my def rolls have been pretty horrible so far, the ones that could have done some major damage like china, uk, and just how russia… I’m going to look at this again and consider giving it very soon.

bold, let me know when you start actually looking at the results rather than presuming. in the last two rounds my defensive rolls have been 25 out of 101 @2, which using my crude math appears to be roughly 25%, below average on a huge number of rolls. I was also 2/18 on aa rolls. you can go to the first round if you want but it wasn’t any better since the french hit like crap defending paris on a less than normal german size attack.
in contrast, I somehow only got 1 hit out of 16 attack strength in a fairly important battle vs the italian cruiser and battleship, and he got 3 out of 4 hits defending, killing 2 important air that could have been used to counterattack the german navy. and I already detailed what happened in the last allied sequence, but that was already too late anyways and sealed the deal.
the difference between you and me, I don’t start a major battle at 40% and whine incessantly when I lose. look at my last two losses, major game deciding battles at 70% and 95% where I both lost, decisively no less.
