    It actually was a fun experience (albeit also mentally draining, but in a good way!).  I went to the World Open (Washington DC) and Kansas Open (Wichita) chess tournaments and scored +5-3=6 in total (Category 1 and above)…. still a bit rusty (I took a 15-year break from tournament play before this year), but at least I don’t have to blame that on the dice…

    The time control for the World Open (that was 9 games) was 40 moves in 115 minutes, sudden death in an hou,r for each side along with a 5 second delay per move.  So, there were a few days where I was playing for 11 hours for 2 games.  It definitely becomes a high level of play under those circumstances!
