@SuperbattleshipYamato I have not tried it that much also. It’s pretty fun. Yeah I would just use edit for that.
Global 1940 and 1943 Expansion for use with TripleA
-
@The-Captain I am trying to use your kamikaze rules and suggest that we get to ignore scrambles and target transports - otherwise the kamikaze seems useless in play
What you think?
Thanks

Hi Johnny,
Do you refer to rule where a Japanese Air unit can use up all its spaces and target an Allied War ship ?
-
Yes. But in TripleA it’s a special red plane
-
The OOB basic game mechanisms where Japanese Kamikaze cannot attack Transport units also aplies to the G40 HRE Kamikaze rule.
Why:
-
Historically the Kamikaze units were ordered to target Capital Warships, since these units were High Value Targets.
With the Capital Warships destroyed - Transport units are almost defenseless - and can easily be eliminated. -
When a Japanese Strategic Plan includes the use of Kamikaze, it is important that this Strategic Plan also includes a plan for destroying enemy Transport units - to hinder enemy Island Jumping by using the same Transport units again.
Note:
US Transport units in the Pacific almost never return to their homeland in order to be loaded again. Distance is simply to great.
For the US Transport units it is a one-way ticket. This makes it even more crucial for the Japanese to destroy the US Transport units.
Important:
Naval Warfare in Axis & Allies should be fought with two primary goals:- Eliminate enemy Transport units
- Protect friendly Transport units
Why:
Transport units is the only way for any Nation to capture valuable islands - and increase the IPC income level on a massive scale.
By destroying the enemy Transport units - you deny the enemy option to seriously increase the IPC level.Attack the enemy at the weakest points (Transport units) - and avoid any major Naval Battle unless you can easily win and hinder the enemy Navy from threatening again.
-
-
That’s why those JPN DDs so brutal. And they can Banzai once a turn too :)
-
@The-Captain HOW is this done? I am told that in this game the transports are always taken as last casualties - hence ALL sea battles must be won fully - there is no way to snipe the valuable transports.
Am I missing something here?
Thanks -
well yea you gotta dust any support/Escort ships that are with them first:)
Not all Trprts are gonna be with the Main Fleet. Many minor attacks will take place where the Trprts are alone or lightly defended, just to take a valuable Island that will provide bonus income or deny it to the Enemy.
Those are the vulnerable ones and should be sunk wherever you can as the Captain stated.
-
@barnee That is my point. In my game with @Trout my kamikaze caught his unsuspecting ALL ALONE transport. and one of those super big ones. So I call that a score! But are you guys telling me that my plane cannot target that sole transport? Especially considering that make or breaks his attack on my island.
-
yes OOB rules do not allow Kamikazes to target Trprts
-
@barnee wow that makes no sense to me. Not from a playability issue. These games are awesome and sometimes talking about “realism” gets in and that can be fun… but playability is the main issue to me. Are we having fun and all playing with the same set of rules and such.
The idea that kamikaze planes are added to a game, or not, is fine either way. IT IS FUN right?
But to state that such a feature is restricted to NOT target a single sole unescorted transport just makes no sense to me. But that is my opinion. THANKS MATE
