That was painful. Had 98% chance of taking Belgrade with 7 units remaining. But gas hits rounded down and troops hit 1-for-10 on first round. The 2 HG defenders got to fire repeatedly until I finally cleared the trenches. I could have put many more units into the battle, should have at least put my 4th gas there also. Attacked Greece in hopes of weakening it, just to guarantee Turkey would take it without bombardment. Had lots of units left over and too far to walk to Italy, so beefed up Galicia.

@fmerwinrommel Sorry about that one Italian guy. I was checking out the battle odds there and I guess i forgot to bring him back. I just edited him back in. I also gave the UK the 2 from the Mid East territory and changed the ownership of the land.
Brave but foolhardy Italian. Ha, sorry I forgot to change ownership when I edited the UK troops into Basra. This is embarrassing with 5 territories retaken by the Allies. It’s like playing whack-a-mole. I keep putting out brushfires. But with the Brits fleeing Sinai, I can concentrate my Mideast forces on retaking territory and leave the Med forces to take Greece and the Royal Navy.

Took Gre and UK Med fleet with predicted number of units left, altho the sea battle started poorly. The solo defenders in Jordan and Yemen gave hits, but the UK in Basra all missed. Which was lucky for me, since another round of amphib invasion would likely succeed if Turkey had lost any units taking Basra. Usually don’t build cav, but needed quick movement to the frontline. As is, had to build 2 trenches. Had just enough cash to replenish fleet.

Russia has 2/3 of all tech. Tech luck is extreme in this game. Com bought another die and still failed, total 0-6. Russia benefited against Com by getting bunkers, which defend same as conscripts. I had 85% chance with 3 units left and had to retreat with 1 unit each in Khab. Could have waited a turn, since Rus couldn’t get reinforcements next turn. In my other game, I, as Com, got war bonds right away and am earning mid 30’s.

Would have liked to see you jumping up and down in your chair and shouting obscenities over the battle for Baluch. Too bad for me that the last neutral didn’t take your last invader with him. Makes up for the Austrian struggle to take Belgrade. Be curious to see what the U.S. plans to do with the builds at the SFr factory. There are no G’s in Mex to attack. Some good territories there to take, but spending on that would reduce the effort for Europe. Should the Commies be afraid?
Last eve, play tested G turn offline to move all the crowded icons and units around on the western front and rolled two 6’s for tech. Now just rolled for real and again 0-4, cumulative 0-14, same as in my game with Dawg.

Naval battles are risky, if the dice go against the attacker, retreating doesn’t help like it does for land retreats. I had 2/3 chance of win or draw, but all depended on first round. With your BB’s absorbing hits and subs defending at 1, I would lose more attack than you would lose defense. Now UK can counterattack and sink my fleet. The whole coastline is at risk, so I had to hold back troops from going to France. This is a game changer. Not getting tech for 4 turns hurt a lot.
