    Say, would you be interested in starting up a World at War game in the normal Play Boardgames section?  I’m playing one currently as Axis against wheat, and I noticed you were playing Allies against him.  Would you like to play a game where you are Axis and I am Allies?  If so, feel free to fire one up and let me know (I’m sure our league game won’t mind  :mrgreen: ).

    I am thinking that sometime mid-spring it would be great to have a round robin tournament where each participant gets to play every other player, and each will be dealt an even amount of Axis and Allies games.  I have a side website where I could post results, etc.  Now the only thing is testing to see what VC’s would be good, and later to see who might be interested!

    The options we have been using (that I think are in the spirit of the setup) are real dice (no low luck, why anyone sets that as default in a game this complex is beyond me lol), everything checked between National Objectives and Battleships repair at end of round (I think that is better for this game, because it helps to alleviate any turn order “ganging up” issues – this game seems to want to function in separate theaters, and also helps battleships be  worth the higher price, since their attacks can absorb damage at turn end), and two hit battleships.

    Let me know if that works and would be of interest!  The more I look at that game, the more I see how ultimately cool it is.  Again, the separate theaters of battle are so very intriguing.

    The last thing would be figuring out the VC’s.  I was thinking (subject to adjustment of course) that those don’t matter until round 10, then as of round 10 you must hold at least 10 VC’s at the end of your turn or lose [this should be easy or it’s probably game over anyway].  This number would increase to 12 at round 15, and 15 at round 20 and on forward.  But, hey, those are just ideas – I couldn’t figure out easily what the original VC settings meant in this game.

    I have four games of WaW going right now. Three individual games and a team game I set up to introduce new players to the game. But, since work is slow right now, I have time for another!

    I’ll set up another one for us with dice for both combat and AA. I do feel two hit units (bb’s, bunkers, and super cv’s) should repair at beginning of round…I think this is best for overall gameplay. I’m also going to select kamikazes as an option…mainly because I don’t know how they come into play in this game.

    I’m not sure what the various victory conditions are for this game. We usually play until one side concedes. I’ve found that the axis will dominate one theatre while suffer in the other. I haven’t been able to find any info from the game developer as to what the actual numbers of required vc’s are so we’ll just play until one side concedes.

    If you like this game and have time to work on various strategies then ask Entek or Dawgoneit to play a game. They’re the only other players I know who are experienced with the game and they’ll give you a good game.

    I’ll go ahead and set a game up for us and let you know when it’s ready to rock and roll!

    Sounds great!  Wheat and I have the BB’s set to repair every round (end of round), but if you (and your mates) are playing it to repair at beginning of the turn, I’ll set the games to play that way in the future.  I was thinking that Axis would need all the fleet help they could get in the Pacific, especially with kami’s on.  ;)

    So, is the consensus so far that the game is pretty balanced as is?  I’m not real sure how a bid would affect the balance much in a game of 85 million pieces or whatever….  :lol:

    I’m not sure about the balance. On the triple a developer page some of the people posting have said that it heavily favors the axis…but the game developers say it’s pretty even.
    I think it favors the allies. The axis start the game way behind in production and TUV…so they  have to make big gains early to kind of even that  out.

    I don’t remember being asked for interceptors…were they launched to defend against the sbr?
    In the future I need to be the one who decides all scramble/ interceptor decisions.

    Oh, sorry about that, did you want to roll for interceptors?  I had 4 bombers against 3 fighters – I’ve never had anyone intercept that in Russia yet (the fighters are more valuable on defense of the capital and the odds were against you) but I will by all means always ask in the future then.

    Let me know if you want to roll out the interceptors before I proceed.
