    I still consider attacking, when you’re going to “lose” a bad decision, if you’re in front economically. you could just wait one or two more turns and you will win the battle with very few casualties.

    Do you ever play chess?

    If you trade piece for piece, until your opponent only has pawns + a king, but you still have a bishop, or a rook, suddenly your  bishop or rook, are worth WAY more, because they now dominate the board undisturbed.

    For example, there were several “lose” battles that I made in this game, that stopped your pacific offensive dead cold.

    As for waiting for a superior force to attack “later” I would argue that that damaged you in the Europe game!
