    2 things on the Java/Z42 battles…

    Did you know you only had to go 1 round with the plane?  I suppose you did, and just didn’t want to have to move a carrier to catch the plane…

    Did you know you could retreat the loaded transport to Z41 after your plane had sunk the transports?
    Maybe you did know and didn’t bother because I would just sink it anyway…?

    Anyway, just making sure you aren’t cheating yourself by not knowing the exact rules here…

    Attack power is not required

    Page 16 of the rulebook
    “Any warship” There is no requirement for attack power for escorting transports vs. submarines.  Carriers can do the job.

    You are probably reading page 32 where it is talking about naval combat and not amphibious.

    I wasn’t sure if I was supposed to retain the option to retreat, but either way, tripleA did not give it to me.

    I didn’t think plan a retreat path, so the transport would be stuck in SZ41, which is the path tripleA selected when I clicked to move to SZ42. I could have established both possible retreat options (SZ37 and SZ41) since I had two ships, but I didn’t (forgot to plan for failure  :lol: ).

    If you want to let me retreat to SZ37 and change my NCM/placement accordingly, that would be nice (and more generous than I expect) … but otherwise, it’s fine the way it sits.

    I know what it feels like to forget to establish maximum or optimal retreat paths

    I will add to the triple A fault list that you don’t have the option to retreat transports only (I guess I need to do a little testing first)

    Most of the units in SZ36 came from SZ38 during NCM, so I would be able to guard SZ37 … I can’t remember why I choose SZ36 over SZ37 in the first place, so I guess I’d need to reexamine it.

    But saving a tt and 2 land units is probably worthwhile.
