well that was some hurtfully bad rolling. also probably some strategic mistakes. Should stick to core strategies perhaps.

Let me know if you really would have chosen casualties any differently there…. judging the situation I think I took what were the best choices at the time… Carrier is ready to take on American air, and USA subs could join the defense in 12 so I don’t think you should have kept any destroyers
Please let me know right away if you disagree and we can make changes. -
Yes, I would have kept a destroyer and lost the Soviet fighter in the 2nd round. Otherwise I am at risk to your German submarines. It would have been a risk, especially with your very good second round roll but it was what i was planning to do. Otherwise, I am at too much risk when the Germans attack.
Cheers

If this changes anything please make any adjustments you want.
-
Didn’t think about how you could replace the Russian one with a USA fighter.
OK, swap out the Russian fighter for a destroyer…Are you sure? Â This was right before you got an unbelievably good roll. Â At the time I had a good chance of sinking everything, and could ignore subs on Germany’s turn.
Well, that’s what I get for not waiting. Â Didn’t think you’d want any destroyers because USA subs would pretty much offset the German ones. Â Surprise strike would be no big deal. Â Go ahead and swap it. Â When a player doesn’t wait for casualty choices, the other player should get to change them retroactively, so it’s fine. Â I’m not even sure that’s a better choice, but the choice is yours
-
Yeah I am not sure either, but I was planning to lose the Soviet fighter in the battle because it gave the best chance of saving the fleet. I was hoping strongly for a better result but I guess it probably came out around average?
Cheers
-
Seems like about average…
Italians had about a 1 in 4 chance of sinking everything, going in
The destroyer greatly increases your chances of repelling the Germans, assuming you move a lot of subs in
Losing the fighter will help your chances of holding Z12 through G9, but you will probably lose another American fighter because of it.
Of course, this is all academic because the dice gave me the game the first round and beyondI didn’t wait, so you have every right to change the choice afterwards, and I can’t really argue. That’s what I give up by expediting the battle and assuming choices. Thanks for being a good sport, as always

Karl kept me busy with a 1940 game today, or I’d keep this one moving forward…. not that you’re having too much fun with this one…
It’s the first time I’ve been past like round 4 in a global game (have played several different rulesets over the past two years, too :-P) and we’ve got a very tight one going. It takes countless hours to play that game right, but man is it a whole 'nother level of A&A…
I liberated France in round 7 or 8 and am denying counterattacks so far, so that’s been fun. Will soon be spending 17 IPC’s with France for the second time. Thinking about buying a researcher because I can :-D Couldn’t bring myself to do it the first time though - wanted a fighter more.
Also about to do a neutral crush, unless I change my mind. Spain is hugely strategic for USA - 5 different sea zones to build in, and one of them off South France allows naval base access right out of the gate if South France is controlled…
Check it out - it’s a heckuva game. He just got the 5th city with Japan and needs that all-elusive 6th to seal the game. He’s also got Moscow under siege and the Japs are closing in. The middle east oil bonuses are calling the Axis… But USA just got improved shipyards, and it’s USA and UK’s turn…It’s like the old Classic game in that it always looks really good for the Axis after Japan goes, but really good for the Allies after Russia (Classic) or USA/UK/ANZ/France (1940) goes…
The game has been out for 2 full years, and this is the first compelling game I’ve had… Has a lot to do with my opponent (Karl’s played real sound) and the Alpha3 ruleset, I think…
Let me know if you check it out.
Until tomorrow then… Cheers
